Well this not a surprise. the drivers over here are incredibly dangerous, believe me. When will this society wake up and the police start to enforce proper driving rules and penalties. this is so common over here, statistics show more than 2000 people per year die in the Tripoli area due to road accidents. Come on Libya show us that you want to change for the better.

But you said on your other post that Libya is the best, what are you talking about. Are you still here in Libya, of course not, get back here and see how wonderful this insane place is. Yes there are ruins and history, but the society is all messed up and you know it. I have been coming here for over 10 years and there is not much in progress but more like knocking down buildings all over the place right now, it will be 10 years or more. However the political risk level by the UN for Libya has been moved up not down. This is my last year here and I will not be coming back.

expat Libyan Probably we misunderstood eachother. I meant that Libya can be the best for tourism. I mean huge potencial. And my love to Libya was more cos of good time (1 month vacation) i had there with my boyfriend. So many things shocked me there. Some streets, houses are really scary, in horrible conditions. But i am person with good imagination and know what can be done with country if your goverment will spend money on it. As someone already said it can be not worse then Dubai.

About roads i remember how i was counting traffic lights in the streets of Tripoli. My conclution: 1 traffic light for 2-3km. According to my country this mess can be stopped with very high penalties.

Are you Libyan Darin?? On the imagination thing, you better have a good one, and for the government, well that may or not change things for at least minimum 10 years and that came from two local journalist who I spoke with recently. It is a shame and things here are not the best.
the UN just took Libya's risk level up, so I think there is going to be some silly stuff happening here.

To be honest, shit has to be done and sooner than later...
Despite the good memories I have here, and the many good friends, the place is so chaotic.

totally in agreement with your comments. Sometimes it seems that this place is totally out of control, incredible. And believe me it is not that we want them to go towards totally western ways, as there is a culture here to sustain, however some COMMON SENSE!!!!!! is required to having any type of order. There are some here that hate one another, they are jealous they are very envious towards outsiders and their people.
chaotic is not even a word here, it is heard to describe what it really is. I don't even go out anyway more at night as the streets are just like you say chaotic.

No not Libyan, 11 years coming to Libya, and in about 30 days I will never return back. I am totally disappointed with the Libyans who I have given jobs to and tried to train proper, but THEY JUST DON'T GET IT!! One of my staff told me that it will be years before this place is accepted as some what normal. I think most of them like it here, because they can get away with what ever they want to a certain degree. If you know anything about Libya it was rated one of the nicest place in the 60's now look at it, garbage everywhere. they used to wear mini skirts and enjoy life, now look at it.
I mean, we all understand the type of politics here, but COME ON'. So actually in 24 days I am gone, I have had enough.

Hey Mystery, 6 days and counting. No culture shock bud, but it is getting out of hand, and daily deaths on the roads and streets are common. I speak Arabic spent time in the middle east and here since November 1998, so its not culture shock at all, it is time to get out of a place that just doesn't get it.
