Chaba sa thesele taba ke ena.

What do you guys think about a home coming revolution for all Lesotho natives that are exiled in South Africa and elsewhere for purposes of finding better jobs, etc. Especially professional people who could use their skills for the benefit of the country. I could bet you that about 70% of Lesotho graduates outside the country do not return to the country after their studies, clearly this affects our country's capacity to develop. What could we do to make sure that government and all stake holders make it easier for Basotho in the diaspora to return home and serve our people. Surely i can't be the only one concerned with the phenomena of "Brain Drain" especially knowing that Basotho professionals abroad will always be seen as foreigners and 'job stealers'.

Oa buoa but na job market e hae e tla re lekana kaofela? I dont think so, unemployemnt is now at 40% and our literacy rate is about 84%. That means more educated people are employed. joale hare khutlela hae ka job market e limited joalo, it means unemployment is going to shoot to bo ma 80%.

I think more investment in local private sector is needed to increase job market.

This a positive proposition but too many chalenges to it. First, the labour market in Lesotho does not have the capacity to absorb any more, including the new graduates from our university. Second, some of those working in SA have special skills that would not be put into practice at home. I had a chance to speak to one fellow who holds a degree in electronic engineering. This fellow would never get value for money at home. Third, this emigration trend can only be reversed if the economic environment at home improves. Fourth, even if jobs open up at home, not even half will return as it has been the case with many countries, and we would be bound to employ people from other African countries.
