I a suspcious from things I read in the news concerning her cell phone messages and the way the governments reacted. I suspect she was stressed out and left on her own. Made up the kidnapping story when she wanted to come back.

Will we ever know? Will anyone look for evidence to back up her story and purse a warrant for her if she did not?

I watched a documentary on tv some months ago about a curious Kyrgztani custom. It seems that there is an ancient custom in the country of kidnapping women who are viewed as prospective brides. If a man sees a woman he fancies he, usually with the help of male family members, kidnaps the woman and takes her to a secluded location. There female family members try to talk the woman into marrying the man. If after many hours or days the woman absolutely refuses, she is usually released unharmed. The government tries to discourage the practice but has not been entirely successful. I wonder if this is what happened in this case?

there is that tradition, it was not this way originally, nowadays some men use it the way u described, see a woman and get her, but i do not think anyone in their sain mind would have kidnapped a woman from US or any other country to marry, and she was 33

hi, i'm from kyrgyzstan too, just wanted to add that I do think it seems obvious that she just left on her own. it's ironical that the American ambassador thanked the kyrgyz police, when they didn't find her...she turned up herself and made up a bogus story of some kidnapping...just giving a netagive image to Kyrgyzstan, as if we need another 'horror' story from one of the 'stan's...

What is "obvious"? Nothing is obvious in Kyrgyzstan. Is it obvious why the government doesn't investigate Akaev, or the strange disappearence of Akmatbaev or the disappearance of Uzbek refugees? Maybe she left, maybe she didn't. Kyrgyzstan is the real Wild West - there is no "obvious" there!

Ahmad? Are You doing drugs? You see, this is the free world, I can say whatever I want: For example that Your religion is ridiculous, that there is no allah, that mohammed was an idiot and a rapist or that I am going to stick my nose whereever I want to - including the internal affairs of Kyrgyzstan. I met a lot of idiots on route between Bishkek and Balykchy, as it is "in" to travel at 100 mph in an old Mercedes truck on a rocky highway, filled with passengers. Every Kyrgyz marshrutka-driver believes he is immortal (and in allah to come and save him if an accident should happen after all)- and a lot of accidents happen. And a lot of people die there. A lot. But everyone has a nice plastic mecca in his wind shield.

So much for Your allah.

As I am an atheist, the only thing that awaits me is a beautyful day tomorrow, and nothing after my death, except darkness - the obvious reason is, that I'll be dead. The hell of Yours is nothing but a childrens tale. Instead of listening to ya grandmas bull*hit stories in the evenings, You should have listende to Your biology professor in school in the daytime.

Allah won't save You. You will.

It's time for honesty and it's time for apologies. It's also time for answers from the silent US Government.

What Metzger did is a disgrace to the good name of the Kyrgyz people and the people of the United States. We both deserve better!

The Air Force secretary needs to tell us the truth (which is obvious) and the US Secretary of State needs to apologize to the Kyrgyz foreign minister.

Thank you people of Kygryzstan for being so patient and nice with this slander against you. As a retired US Air Force member and US citizen, I am ashamed of what was falsely said about you by the liar and scoundrel Jill Metzger.

Alexander,

I know it puts your mind at ease to think this way!!! But, if you think about the order of the universe and all the protections that chance couldn't have put there. You know there is a Supreme Being. If you were seeking God instead of running away, you would use logic and see this. Maybe you should have been opening your mind and asking God questions, instead of believing what your grandma and professors told you!!! You have to face GOD all by yourself. Explain to me this: How can you see images inside and outside your head??? If everything was physical, you would not need subconsiousness.

America executes criminals, traitors and deserters too. See how blinded I am by my Religion.

Well, if You'd have been educated in a school, not in a mosque, You'd probably have a different view on life than the nonsense You present us with here. You see, I very much believe in science and not least scientific documentation, none of which is represented in Your dogmatic brain wash.

There is no such thing as "god", it´s a product of twisted minds, and used by people to control others. Religion is only accepted by people who are afraid of living their lives, and don't have the guts to see that this is the only life they will get. Also, especially in catholicism and islam, there is a fear factor, that implements harsh consequences of the critic who might question the unlogic in the religion.

So cut the nonsense out. I'll start to believe, when I see some proves of the so called "god's" existence - and noone has been able to present that yet.

When You try to threaten me, I only see You as a lost, frightened child who needs a shepperd to hold it by hand and follow it through life. I feel sorry for You, having to be afraid of "bedtime stories" as a grown person.(Which I persume that You are)

Oh yeah. Note that it is only the most religiously fundamental people who always call for the executions. I don't know any atheist who supports it - a real atheist is against capital punishment - it's simply wrong to kill. Look at what happens in Iraq. It is no longer the Americans who kill innocents, it is the muslims killing other muslims. That is what You get from Your religion.

By saing "there is a supreme being" when there is something You don't understand, You only project Your own intellectual insufficiency - just imagine if everyone accepted that? We would still live in caves wouldn't we? On the other side, I see that You like to lead the modern life residing in the US?

(But there is not far from Texas to Ryiadh - I know that too, so it is a convenient way of join the religion with the secular life style - a real muslim would never lead the way of life that You do)

As a 20 year vet who has deployed many times in defense of freedom, I believe in the fact that people are innocent until proven otherwise in this country (USA). Furthermore, I think the internet character assasination that has occurred against this woman -- who is alleged to have been kidnapped and tortured-- is unbelievable. What if she underwent some form of torture and now is being ruined by her own fellow citizens? If this was your sister or daughter you certainly would want her to have due process at the very least.

Blah, blah, blah, You don't know nothing about Islam.

If you know the 5 pillars, you will know they have nothing to do with what you have just said. You sound like you are mad at not knowing GOD. Believe me buddy, I am not following the teachings of any unrighteous man. And your statement about being afraid to die: What is a martyr? Is that someone afraid to die?

I am going to end this conversation now. Lets say you are right, then we both don't have anything to look forward to, but if I am right, I have paradise, and you have hell.

Good Luck!!!for you. and GodSpeed!!! for me

I persume that being a muslim, You know about the Hadith and the Sharia and the surahs in the quran? Or do You only follow the 5 pillars? You should know that islam is not something that You choose from as You wish, islam means SUBMISSION, and being a real muslim, which I understan You are not - You should respect ALL the rules, and not the ones You fancy.

I think the religious definition of a martyr represents an idiot who is willing to give up his own life or kill people in the name of his god. I think martyrs represent lack of mental capacity, and religion is cancer of every society.

Yeah, end it - put Your tale between Your legs and run away to the mosque. I have a beautiful life to look forward to, here on earth, with my wife and children. I have paradise here on earth, You are fearing an imaginable god, and hoping for something that is a mere dogma.

Also You should start to read books. I reccomend Friedrich Nietzsche and Voltaire for a start. Then complement with biologist Richard Dawkins and fulfill Your basic education with the PLoS Genetics, in which You can read about the new results in the evolution theory.

Happy reading!
