I don't remember anyone ever being killed by safe and sane fireworks. That stooge Wells should be ashamed of himself. If we follow his line of thinking we should just stop allowing anyone to go out in public on July 4. Be afraid...be very afraid, not of fireworks, but of people who want to use fear and threats to outlaw the traditions we love.

Would you be willing to call Wells a stooge and tell him he should be ashamed of himself in person? Maybe we should be more afraid of you and your buddy.

Devils Advocate: If Measure C is passed, and there are fires, serious injuries etc. and their is not enough Fire Crews on staff, would those same Yes on C folks be the first ones to complain? People want what they want, when they want it. Can understand both sides of this issue.

Booster Club President says " historically leal fireworks haven't caused many fires in the county." Lucky you, with the hills and all the dry brush around very lucky.

If Booster Club President is forcing the issue with Measure C then the city should require them to provide a fire insurance policy to help with the expenses of fighting a fire caused by there use.

Vote No on C and keep the landscape around Lake County Safe.

Wouldnt it be nice if Jordan knew what he was talking about. I'll listen to the Fire Chief before I listen to an non professional person. Come on Lakeport, lets spend our money here and not give it the big company in Sacramento. Vote No on "C" and lets really enjoy the 4th of July.

Seems what you state shows a lack of respect for Mr. Wells. His agenda is SAFETY for the community, he is doing his job (unlike many others in LC). He stated he does not have the staffing to protect our community properly. If you haven't been involved in Fire Safety and Rescue, you remain clueless.

If we took everything that was unsafe from us as we are doing how are we doing to die? From boredom.

Seems to me fund raisers have made little attempt to FIND other ways to raise funds.

What about a bowling tournament?

What about a charity golf tournament?

What about a dunking contest...with elected officials?

What about car washes?

Jordan has bitten off more than he can chew if he thinks he is going to get away with saying Wells is incapable of doing his job because he won't be able to advise the city council because of the sale of fireworks. Wouldn't want to be him in the future!

I was a volunteer firefighter for years, and I think Wells and the three fools on the city council are taking a very simplistic view, as the reality is that people want fireworks and if they can't buy them from a fireworks stand they will buy them out of the trunk of somebody's car-and those fireworks won't be the safe-and-sane type. Wells got support from everyone on a one-year break because it's true that in one year fire crews were stretched thin, but the next year there was no such problem and his real agenda became clear: a misguided total ban regardless of fire conditions or staffing levels.

Wells has presented the council with data about illegal fireworks and used this to make his case for the ban, Wells had been decietful and is still fear-mongering and completely ignoring the statistical data that crealy shows legal fireworks are a managable , one eveing event. Shame on the city council and Wells for making decisions based not on facts but fear, BTW, our local firechiefs are some of the most overpaid people on the public payroll, somebody needs to look at why we're paying these guys so much for so little.

Hey Tom Jordan, I just checked the Lakeport District calander on their web site and see they have a meeting on Nov. 10th, 2009. After you making a statement like you did I would expect to see you there to explain yourself to the five commissioners who hired Chief Wells. I invite all of Lakeport to attend this meeting to hear Tom Jordan in person, I'm sure he'll be there.

Yep and when monkeys fly out the Potheads butt he can join the circus. Until then he will have to stick to stalking people online.
But to answer your question I think if you light some sparklers in the safeway parking lot it will be hard to start a forest fire. If a fire does start I promise you I will not complain.

Tom Jordan is a coward. He won't show up at that meeting. As a matter of fact he is an embarrassment to the CLHS Booster Club.

Yep, talk like that and he represents the youth, no thanks, spend your money elsewhere but not with CLHS Boosters. Hey Tom, I just read the new ord that TNT wrote, who's going to clean up our town after your groups and TNT are finished making your millions this year? The trash will sit and business owners will be stuck cleaning up their lots. Thanks Tom

Cheif Wells should look at the picture a little differently.
This public safety does get carried away to the point were we loose all are freedoms.
Safety has bought us seat belt laws, helmet laws, smoking in the bar laws, you can not have your child in the front seat laws.
Now I'll put on my prophylatic and see if I produce anything.
No freedom, But I will feel safe.
