I don't see a problem here at all ... it is a 7 acre property, which can easily accommodate a large mansion, it just needs to be properly landscaped. It's not like they are trying to build it on a 1/2 acre plot.
It sounds like the "concerned" neighbors need some hobbies, maybe learn a foreign language, play the guitar, travel ...do something positive with you energy...

I agree with Chris (would not be so harsh on the neighbors, but he may have a point). To me the focus should be on (1) the impact the development has on the land, including neighoring lands, e.g., are they altering the grading or covering too much surface area which would cause flooding/erosion problems to the neighbors and/or (2) does it alter the character of the neighorhood? As Chris pointed out, it's a 7 acre plot. Set it back far enough from the road and/or landscape and nobody knows its there. Point 1 is the biggest concern and as long as there are no problems there, nobody should have a problem with this. Just my $0.02.

"We would welcome them to the neighborhood if they were willing to live in a normal house,"
One of the funniest and most ironic quotes I've read in a long time. What is considered "normal" in Greenwich anymore...

I suspect that when Mattress King Zalman Simmons came to town with his big mansion-building plans 85 years ago, the neighbors were similarly aghast at his ostentation.

Rather ironic that his heirs who live next door are now complaining about the latest new fortune to arrive in town!

I hope with all my heart this building. I was born and brought jp in Greenwich, and have been to the Simmons house many times. It is beautiful and perfectly adequet for a family. Please stop these9000 people from ruining Greenwich any more than it has been. Why don't they move to Hollywood?
