To be gay in Jamaica "to be dead"

You are oviously prejudice as you make the this general comment about Jamaicans..have you met all jamaican? do you know them all personally? Let me tell you something lady, Jamaicans do not go round killing gays thats is a media lie.. people in jamaica speak out against perverts comming to corrupt our little paradise Island with their unnatural activities, we have the right to speak out, you must be an immoral person if you support what is immoral, we do not hate gays we hate what they practice, where do you come from? your name sound african, why dont you speak out about Aids epedemic, murders and the heavy crime and corruption in your country., and stop generalising about JAMAICANS.

I have met many wonderful Jamaicans so I will agree that all do not go around killing. But are you actually trying to say that Gays are not killed in Jamaica due to their sexual orientation? That Gays have not been brutally killed in their homes for their lifestyle??

Obviously some Jamaicans just take to these internet threads to tout their beliefs that homosexuality is perversion, though we know others kill. This is a simple fact, and the point of this thread (though we keep straying from the point). Nobody in the world deserves to die for their sexual orientation, whether you choose to believe that or not.

As i watch the nightly news in Jamaica i have come to realize that the majority of gays killed in Jamaica are killed by people from the Jamaican gay community. In fact it is almost always fits of jealous rage that motivates the killings. The typical Jamaican attitude is to ridicule and ostracize, not kill gays.

The Word says that all have sinned and have fallen short of the Glory of God. I have been called homophobic many times in my life, but I don't hate anyone in this world. I have been saying for a while that sin is sin and the so called "Christian Right" in this country tries to establish things like homosexuality and abortion above every other sin. You are supposed to hate the sin and love the sinner. Jesus' message is a message of redemption. Every person must face judgement on their own and must work out their salvation with fear and trembling.

On the other hand, I have noticed that there have been many racist, elitist and disrespectful remarks towards Jamaicans on this forum. Is that really the best way to get your message across, by behaving in that manner? I always tell people, my problem with gay people is not what they do in a bedroom or even in public. It's their attitude. It goes without saying that that is a general statement, but it is very true for the most part.

Why do so many gay men believe that they don't have to follow any rules? What makes you think you are special? Do what you do, but I don't need to have any part in it. We should all be able to coexist peacefully, but the gay community has to play it's part too. Comport yourselves in a proper manner. And no, I'm not saying stop lisping (even though it is an affectation), sashaying and wearing glitter and thigh-high boots. What I'm saying is, don't disrespect other people and expect to have them like you.

I don't know why this is saying I'm at Cape May Courthouse. I think it is important to mention that I'm from New York City, born and raised and I've been around gay people my whole life. I even went to elementary school in the West Village (P.S. 41) when it was still the center of gay life in new york. I've never been involved in any gay bashing or harassed people for being gay. I have, however, been disrespected by gay & lesbians at work, on the train, in the places I have lived and almost anyplace else you can name. Just like it's not right to try and force my Christianity on anyone, it's not right for gay folks to force their beliefs on me.

While that is sad to hear,it's good to hear that the motive wasn't because the person was a homosexual.
