Full story: El Paso Times

Archie Bunker is alive and well and writes letters to newspaper editors. Proof? He had a letter published recently in which he suggested that everyone carry firearms in order to protect themselves.

Golly Anita,
Thanks for the story.

In Texas, CHL holdes are pretty well trained, the staged circus did what it was supposed to do, at least for you.
YOU have a perception, which is wrong.

I know the PD that participated in the circus; I challenged them to come to Texas and take on some El Paso CHL holders in an unedited televised shooting match..
they refused....

You can be assured, the Texasl CHL holders will do their part IF your will do your part!

I challenge you to go through the course; then comment on it. You'll be glad you did, and safer too!!

Ken Anderson from Carlsbad errs when he claims that a birth certificate is required to secure Constitutional rights.

First, certain inalienable rights exist whether there is a constitution or not. Thomas Jefferson, reflecting the concept of "natural rights," said as much in the Declaration of Independence: "All men are created equal and are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights..." No birth certificate required.

Second, Constitutional protections extend to everyone within its purview, so wrote Justice Davis in In re: Milligan 150 years ago:“The Constitution of the United States is a law for rulers and people, equally in war and in peace, and covers with the shield of its protection all classes of men, at all times and under all circumstances." No birth certificate required.

Hey Dan Pickens, I was just thinking about a few things I'd like to do that might assist peacemakers in their quest for tolerance in the world...... There. I'm done now. Now I'm qualified for the next Nobel Peace Prize award!

Gun Owners vs. Doctors:

The number of physicians in the U.S is 700,000.
Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.
Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Stats courtesy of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

The number of Gun Owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (Yep, that's 80 MILLION).
The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
The number of accidental gun deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Stats courtesy of the FBI.

So, statistically, doctors are approx. 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Guns don't kill people, doctors do.

Also remember this fact, not everyone has a gun... but almost everyone has at least one doctor.

Eligibility to vote in the U.S. is determined by both Federal and state law. Currently, only citizens can vote in U.S. elections.

Local shenanigans violate that law.

Good Letter, Most NRA members are paranoid schysophrinic and are not worth a dam in a emergency situation and are usually carried away clinching onto their guns. I met an NRA member once and he was showing me his gun and I startled him BOOO! and he dropped his gun .

How many NRA members are not paranoid schizophrenic if most are? As many as it takes to react righteously in their defense and in defense of others? How do you know they're carried away clenching their guns? I've been alive many, many years and I've yet to set that! I check the news every day. I think you're lying. I also think that your story about meeting an NRA member and scaring him is disingenuous. Lastly, learn to spell.

Ok but you admit that they are not prepared to defend themselves or anybody else when confronted in a real life situation. They don't have the training which takes many years. The NRA is fooling thess easily fooled people thinking into thinking they are safe just for their gun companys to make a propfit. We had a cop acouple of years ago get shot in the butt running away from gun scene and he ended up dying. Im just saying the people are being tricked by the NRA

You are correct that only citizens my vote in U. S. elections -- but that does not negate the basic point in my previous post. Constitutional rights [save for voting] do not depend upon having a birth certificate.

The rights enumerated in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, thirteenth and fourteenth amendments and the right to a writ of habeas corpus, protection against ex post facto laws and prohibition of bills of attainder apply to all PERSONS within the purview of the Constitution and are not limited to citizens of the United States.

Based on ezekials prophecy of the future Russian and Iranian foot soldiers using wooden weapons, there likely will be a international gun ban on all firearms in civilians and military use,at least in the western and middle eastern countries. the world government will possibly institute the ban and will override the us constitution in several points. There will be an advantage to this. i would vote for it because its indicated in prophecy.

I read england does not allow civilians to have guns. They probably have less crime than United states does. the Us founding fathers were not thinking about gun violence in the united states in our cities.Morality was better then and slaves were made to behave and work hard and they had a better prettier life than after they were freed and had to live in depressing conditions. We needed guns in early american history to protect from british invaders and wild indians. Now a more civilized world needs no guns and thats the one thing makes us in modern life uncivilized are the guns and moral decay. I hope th eowlrd government will over ride american secularism and guns from ownership. the constitution needs just those two points changed,we need a national church but allows free exercise of religions so well have better religious morality. Practical atheism is causing violence, encouraged by the secular supreme court of the united states.

What's being compared are causes of death, in this case accidental deaths by doctors and accidental deaths by guns. Your opinion aside, stats support that doctors are FAR more deadly than gun owners.

Weve blamed too much on doctors already, causing malpractice law suits to cause doctors personal insurance to sky rocket, causing in turn their outrageous doctor fees on patients to pay for the law suits. its deadly enough that their expensive rates cause some to rather die of cancer or refuse surgery ,so yes they are to blame. We need clinic doctors who charge based on one's income.

Here's a better idea... flat fees and... TORT REFORM! No longer can a patient who wouldn't make $100 million in 1000 lifetimes get millions in settlements because their doc did something stupid. Mistakes happen, and doctors are human. The doc should pay damages yes, but millions?? Sorry. That's an abuse of the justice system.
