The support of Israel is completely in the US interest as the nations that oppose Israel have historically been the most abusive and destabilizing influences in the world and our economy is reliant on stable, western style economies and nations committed to the values we stand for (such as Israel). A laundry list of lobbies does not answer my question. AIPAC is considered to be the most active lobby in DC (along with AARP). I am not suspicious of all Jews, only Zionists- including Christian Zionists. I became suspicious after I met some Palestinians and heard about how they are treated there, then I research on the net. The IDF's brutality is on par with the US at Abu Gharib or Gitmo. Why can't I freely criticize both countries?

Until you met palestinians and they told you how they are treated? I guess they have brainwashed another victim. Have you ever heard of pallywood? I suggest you watch their amazing movies. You can freely criticize anyone you want. My assessment of gaza is that the standard of living there is on par with Egypt, but, of course, that is not good enough. You act as if there is a mystical stranglehold by certain lobbies and my point is that there is an abundance of well funded arab influences shaping public opinion as well. In fact, your JFK theory, has roots in that campaign. Keep in mind that Israeli territory is less than .1% of the middle east. Unfortunately this is a problem for muslim extremists who wish to have it 100% Islamic.

Walt and Mearsheimer make a compelling case in their book "The Israel Lobby". Not only is the book well documented, but most of the sources are from Israeli and American newspaper articles.
