Children are anonymously attacking other children, starting rumors, calling namesÂ…adults are attacking other adults, slinging accusations of drug abuse, neglect, adulteryÂ…and worst of all, adults are attacking the children.

Where will it all end? Our children are in turmoil from the lies and hatefulness spread on this website. Bear in mind they have to attend school under the weight of whatever their anonymous peers chose to say about them on the forum the day before. How far will it have to go before people sit up and take notice?

Libel and defamation are not protected speech and ignoring Topix doesn't really help because once someone libels you, it automatically goes out into the search engines meaning you may be destroyed forever even if you don't know what Topix is.

The Topix website has destroyed the lives of literally thousands of people.

The Topix company does not seem to grasp that not all speech is protected and that libel (Written lies), defamation, knowingly allowing drug sales and pornography on a site so easilly accessible to children is not only immoral but in some cases is illegal.

The Topix company continues to refuse to police their site unless the media reports on the damage that has been done. As soon as the heat is off, the Topix forums become even worse.

Topix tries to convince the media that they are a hyperlocal news site, but yet the company has admitted three-fourths of the postings in their forums come from users who regularly posted gossip and libel. Topix does nothing about the problem except rake in money. The company refuses to regularly monitor and moderate its boards.

Thousands of people, including their own users, have asked Topix to require users to register and start banning those who hurt others.

Topix refuses indicating they are nothing more than a cyberbullying site that has so low confidence in their company, they refuse to make Topix a safe site for people.

Contact legislators, Topix advertisers, the media, and other sources demanding that Topix be held accountable for their lack of ethics.
