Sorry I just thought the title of this story was pretty funny. We'll call it belated April Fools.

Yes, I'm with you on that. I've been laughing for almost a year about it, just to listen to Ihrie explain how innocent it happened and it was done for the best interest of the committee. Then if you recall, "Flip Flop" mysteriously came up with a $25,000. check donated for the "Fire Works". Good timing, do ya think. This is another agreement with the two of us. Brighter days ahead!!!

It is sad and unfortunate that An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has had to resign but there was no choice. The media have been harassing him and for all is faults and inconsistencies concerning his finance the media have judged him to be guilty or at the very least doubtful of innocence. Whatever the case may be, An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has been undermined by his political opponents. This is normal for any democracy but when compared to other leaders who are known to be corrupt or considered criminal. Such as the War criminal President Bush and peerage granting Blair. Do not also forget Gerhard Schroeder’s connections with Gazprom. Even Ehud Olmert has been accused of corruption. The Italian PM is by far the most corrupt western leader in the world and not afraid to show his personal wealth. In all these cases Bertie’s alleged crime pales in comparison. In all the other cases the leaders of their respectable countries continue on to lead despite been tarnished by their actions. An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern may have been involved in corruption but his reasons as well as the period in which it happened, prior the boom provide him with more justification then any of the other leaders mentioned above. Bertie Ahern has served his country well but the ongoing publicity was distracting him from running the country. The FF led government must now get on with dealing with the issues unlike what has been going on with An Taoiseach

Good? Great stuff especially since he admitted taking cash payments. Just goes to show that dirty money in politics will always result in scandal.

That you would post such horrible things about a man who does so much volunteer work, such as the parade committee, cops for kids, fireworks and concerts in the park says more about YOU! Matt doesn't do this for a lousy $8000 a year. He's paying back this city! Serving SCS isn't a job; it's a privilege.

How does Ahearn taking money from a Pac.$3,000 benefit the people of SCS? Would that money go to better use being donated to a chairty? So if Matt cares so much why didn't he just take that $3,000 he recieved and donated it from his election committee to charity instead of wasting it on campaign lititure? Please answer those for me.

Please answer those for me. and the mighty PAC donated a measly 150.00 to wigs for kids.clearly a snub to a worthwhile cause. and now wasted money on a loser.
