I hope this nightmarish cruelty is brought to an end. I've seen hares at one event crawling away to die after being mauled and pinned to the gropund by the dogs, and they called this "sport".

The hares are snatched from their natural habitats by gangs with nets, some die after becominng entangled in the nets, others die in the captivity to which these wild animals are subjected (totally unnatural to them), and the ones that make it to coursing day are terrorized for a laugh and a gamble. Is that "sport"? They are mauled, battered, tossed into the air like bits of dead meat, and many of the hares released back into the wild after coursing die of stress-related conditions. And then there are the hares that don't make the grade or are too injured to run. Many of them end up being fed LIVE to greyhounds in training sessions. Easy to see why Australia banned coursing decades ago, Britain banned it in 2004 and Northern Ireland banned it last year. So I beg to differ Liam with your view of this activity as amounting to "sport". The much-publicised fracas between those Kerry and Tyrone football fans was a "walk in the park" compared to what the gentle hare in Ireland has to endure at the hands of the coursing gangs.
