TOM - you should do some research. the corn in a box of cereal now has about ten cents worth of corn in it (including the high fructose sweetner)... so if the price has gone up more than six cents, there are other factors in the price increase. The impact of high grain prices is a tiny fraction of the price increases we have seen over the winter. I can say with certianty that high transportation costs (diesel fuel) have ten times the impact on high prices. I am a purchaser by trade and see fuel surcharges on almost every shipment of goods, and it is only going to get worse. Also, the other information you present on ethanol as a fuel is pure bull. For instance, we never tried corn ethanol in the 70's, the energy yield is 130% of what is used (I know that is not great, but it is quite different than what you say), etc. I could go on and on. Why do you have to knock it when you don't even know? Why is ethanol blamed for every bad thing? Why can't someone offer a solution instead of knocking others' plans? |

When the fuel price raised ....people thought for alternate source of energy..
If the food price rise....people should think of having other alterante sourse of food...... SEA FOOD |

In all the talk of food shortages and food aid and the percentage of income spent on food, where is the mention of overpopulation rapidly outstripping the planet's resources? Many of the countries where 60-70% of income is spent on food have very large families with average fertility rate (births per woman) as high as 5-7; those spending 15-20% of income on food have small families with average fertility rates closer to 2. Why can't family planning information and education be exported along with food? Is it more humane to let babies be born and then starve, or to assist young families with the means to plan their family size and timing, so that all children are wanted and parents have the means to care for them? This isn't about just food; we are running out of potable water and arable land and decimating our forests and devouring our resources and forcing the extinctions of other species because we cannot face up to the fact that as a species, we have 'been fruitful and multiplied' and are about to multiply ourselves into a very difficult situation if we don't get a grip.

When you are paid less...you have to spend on the food, and shelter first...so the percentage if spending increases even above 70% |
