Think about it this way. Where did all the ancient Greeks go? Did they stop having children? Did the children all pack up one day and move to Atlantis?
The likely answer is that they stayed where they were and had children who had children who had children and so on.
Over the years as other cultures came and went, Greeks maintained their language and culture. They did it by keeping together as communities of Greeks. We survived because being Greek is less about blood and more about the idea. Even in the ancient times, Greeks were not one ethnic group, they were many.
So, yes, we are related to the ancient Greeks. We also are related to the many people that joined us since. We are the proud ancestors of all the Greeks that came before us, all the ones that contributed to the Greeks we are today.
