Southern cantonese should not interbreed with northern chinese,because southern cantonese are more clever than northern chinese.Northern chinese have interbred with the mongolians,tungustics and huns,therefore northern chinese are less intelligent.Even Northern Koreans score higher than northern chinese,even though north korea's living standards are lower than northern china's.

I don't think Hong Kong people are statistically smarter than northern Chinese because the latter have Mongolian ancestors but because smart people were drawn to Hong Kong by the possibility of earning a lot of money. Hong Kong was one of the first places in China where trade with the Western world took place. In consequence, foreign assets flooded into Hong Kong, attracting smart people from many places, including northern China.

Do you really think anyone can make meaningful generalisations about whole nations like this? Are there any stats for people living in Catford? Get a life!

I do agree with the first poster. Northern Chinese are not that clever and most important, they lack the practical outlook of Guangdong Chinese. I go to University and I see all these Northern Chinese from Beijing who don't have any practical skills to earn a living. They just go to school, study and research in the labratory and cannot perform real work. Basically, most of them are useless when it comes to getting a job because they are not practical. This also true with other groups such as Taiwanese and Shanghai people who speak Mandarin. Cantonese are the most pragmatic. We are willing to do dirty work before we become professional. Northern Chinese would rather starve out for respect than earn a humble living.

Yeah its been known in China that the Southern are much more harder working than the North.

Its funny how Hong Kong beat a lot of innovative countries like Japan, Germany, S.Korea, Sweden etc. Its funny how Hong Kong beat the financial centers like Switzerland and Luxemburg. Generally speaking, Guangdong Chinese are the most practical and the hardest workers in China, and in the overseas communities. Most people from this area are Cantonese or Hakka with a few Chui Chow people. They have the most popular food, very modern, and the best handiwork. I've seen Northern Chinese and Taiwanese people in constructing building and wood work. Their quality is poor in comparing to us. Don't even talk about the Chinese people from Fuchow, they have no talent or skill in anything. I know many people from Mainland China and Taiwan disliking Guangdong and HK people because they are different in manner and outlook. I think maybe they're jealous because we are practical and successful at what we do.

Southern Chinese especially Guangdong Chinese are more like the Mediterranean people. They always talk about food, money, family and business. They are louder, have more emotion and the mind is more sophistcated. Southern Chinese have triad organized crime networks, if you're not clever, you cannot have organized crime which is true for the Northern Chinese.

Well Cantonese people are ugly. Every Chinese who's not Cantonese hates Cantonese people, honestly.

Northern Chinese have not done anything significant in the modern era except continue to be repressive and backwards! Most of the famous Chinese are from the south. It took a Cantonese Sun Yat Sen to change the Northern Chinese backward mentality which has ruined China for many centuries. Most Northern Chinese are stupid. Look at Wen Jiao Bao after the shoe throwing event in Cambridge University in England. He did not know how to make the situation better because he lack the sense of humor which is typical of the stupid and serious Northern Chinese.

bah.. it comes down to the education system. Communism has stunted Mainland China's society due to censorship and media control. The government controls all media, schools, and even the internet. They have effectively closed Mainland China to the outside world and promote what they want society to believe.

Southern Chinese have prospered due to worldwide influences, and bringing in talent from around the world to teach in all areas of education and recreational activities. Being a more free and capitalistic society, Southerners are more open-minded and better educated.

Cleverness is determined by genes and environment. Northern Chinese do not have as many choices as locals here when they go to schools... I have Mongolian blood and I am offended by the first post... but what do I know, I have a low IQ, lol.

Prove that the Southern Chinese are ugly and most important stupid. Guangdong has the highest GDP and is one of the most prosperous provinces in China. Why are most posts of North vs South started by Cantonese people? Is the inferiority complex so prevalent among this group? The economic development of Guangdong is a recent phenomenon stemming from the government's decision to focus on southern development. For the longest time, the Cantonese lived in a desperate poverty and were repeatedly referred to in Chinese historical texts as a "barely civilized" people. Prove the Cantonese are stupid? It's just as impossible to prove "northerners" are stupid because the basis for such an analysis doesn't exist.
