Hi,

I have been dating a Honduran man for 5 years and we want to get married now. I was looking at some marriage license requirements and they all seem to require that he have a passport from Honduras (which he doesn't.) I assume there is some way he can go to a Honduran consulate in the US (we live in New England) and get one??? But I have no idea... does anyone know anything about this process... FYI, I'm an American citizen.

Thanks!

actually he does not have to go to Honduras to get a passport, he can go to a Honduras Embassy in the USA. I know there is one in Chicago, Washington, there are more just google it and you can find out. Me and my husband got married 3 years ago and they did not ask him for a passport just an id. But no he does not have to go back to hOnduras...

We had to get my husband's passport in America too, at the Honduran counsulate in Chicago. Even if you don't need it to get married, it would be a good idea to get one soon anyway, if you plan on trying to get him a visa and his citizenship in the future. You'll need it at some point in that process.

Your original birth certificate. They usually don't ask for anything else because no one has ID.

I am Honduran but born in the states. My husband is working on the first step of the 601 waiver. Have you applied for the fiance visa?

No because my boyfriend is having problems with his ex. she is fighting the divorce and has been for three years... She won't speak to him and says that she will never sign papers for the divorce... She doesn't want him, but won't let him be free to be happy with me. I don't know what to do. I am going to Honduras in Jan. and I am feeling pretty nervous about everything, but excited to see him... I want to help him find someone there to help him with his divorce that will be able to do it even if she does not want it. If we can get him where he is free to marry me then I can bring him here on a fiancee visa. How are you helping your husband to get his papers? Do you have any advice for me?

Well I don't know that I do. I know in the states that you can have a divorce with or without the signature of the other party, but I'm not sure about Honduras. Does he have any immediate relatives that are residents or citizens in the US? It would be a longer wait but it could be a start if someone could apply for him. I could check with my boss, an immigration attorney, to see if he knows anything about Honduran laws for divorce. I know we do divorces for people here whos spouse is out of the country all the time. My husband came in the US on a visa but then overstayed so they say he may or may not have to go back home. I am REALLY hoping for the latter. I'll check with boss man and see what I can find out.

Hey if you could look into the Honduran laws that would be helpful and let me know. I am going there in Jan. I can't wait to see the country and my boyfriend...I want to be able to bring him here on fiancee visa, but cant without the divorce because he has to show prove that he is able to marry. No he doesnt have any realtive here legally that can help him. He thinks he can come back across the border okay, but I dont want that for him. I want him to be able to come safely and legally. Does your boss help people to get their papers?

I asked my boss but he said that he wasn't sure about the laws. His best advice is to consult a lawyer in Honduras and go from there. If she acts that way he would be better off getting a lawyer so he's not messed around in the end. My firm does primarly immigration cases. We would be able to do a fiance visa if you needed. Let me know what you find out with the divorce.

well see he has been seperated from his wife more than 7 years 4 of those years were spent with me.so what hear is that if they havn t been together for more than three years that he can divorce without her having to be involed.we contacted a lawyer in honduras and he said yes that he can divorce him.i just thought that it would be easier from here.i do think that you should contact a lawyer there it would help alot.and if i hear that we can get it done from here i ll let you know.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Leo

Perhaps it's the fact that it's Christmas Eve and everyone is busy, but you can't help feeling that you're walking on eggshells around certain people. Their emotions are very close to the surface and could erupt at a moment's notice, perhaps in a storm of tears or a fit of pique. Calm them down and ask if you can do anything to help.
