Why they don't talk also about aour nice places? our history? all the things that we can be proud of? They try to generalize something very particualar to a slum area. The international press is being horrid. Please stop your prejudice!

More than two hundred years ago, Haiti became the first Black independent nation in the world through the determination, strength, aptitude and successful rebellion of African slaves. Since its independence, Haiti has withstood broken promises, natural disasters, political upheaval and exploitation, but has remained proud and magnificent, a reluctant beacon in the fight for social justice. The Haitian people are strong, they are resilient, and they will play their part to elevate themselves from extreme poverty, but they cannot do it alone.

prejudiced? seen 1st hand on how people are treated there. 1/2 of the country has the wealth while the other 1/2 are starving. seen the pit of rotting corpses, and the dead bodies on the streets, a disturbing sight.

Food shortages are a global problem. Food shortages are caused by overpopulation which is also a global problem. So for all of you who are for forced sterilization and abortions, please volunteer youself!

Remember, castration is always an option!

You are such a american. Ignorant of what trully goes on in the world. Your life of plenty amounts to you being fat and dumb, not giving and compassionate.

If anyone buys this stupid idiotic story then you should go to Haiti and help these people make mud patty's for breakfast!!! If this was something that people really do to stay alive, then hunger all over the world could come to an immediate halt. Animals would never go hungry and we all know that animals don't even eat mud when they're hungry. So if you buy into this crap story as robin has, then you'll believe anything. Anyone want to buy some high protien mud please call me at 1-800- you're stupid.

<quoted text>I WOULDN'T KICK A DYING DOG. I WOULD EUTHANIZE IT. BY POURING RESOURCES SUCH AS FREE MEDICAL CARE AND FOOD INTO AN IMPOVERISHED NATION AND NOT EDUCATING THEM ON THE NEEDS OF BIRTH CONTROL AND THE PROPER WAYS TO FARM AND PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES THEY WILL CONTINUE TO DEPEND ON HANDOUTS FROM AMERICA AND OTHERS. CONTINUE TO GIVE TO THE CATHOLIC CHARITIES SO THEY CAN PROMOTE CHILDBIRTH AND RALLY AGAINST ABORTION AND CONTRACEPTION.
I agree, why are they not being educated and trained to help themselves and become independant. Sadly because a lot of "non for profit" organizations love to use them to make more money. And you are right the Catholics will not even explain and help them get birth control. I was suprised to find that my new family doctor won't dispense birth control either-Catholic-something I complained to CIGNA about that should have been listed in their book about him.

Haiti is right here in america, for almost a century we have lost millions of lives over the the middle east, trying to get them to hate us more, now china has control over us.
I say lets bring the industrial world to haiti why waste 3 months on a cargo ship to china.
Lets train these folks ,lets teach them how to make auto parts, boat, human suplies, agriculture, electrical ,everything china and the middle east produces,we can do it in less than 3 years,so that way we can focus more in america.once we stop suplying our enemies terrorism will slowly fade.
Thank god haiti practices christianity(off course voodoo)the suicide bombing thing will not exist.
Yes i believe haiti can be the next silicon valey
after all its got the best beaches, nice climate all year arround it just needs to be cleaned up.

How about practicing the cheapest and most reliable birth control - KEEP YOUR PECKER IN YOUR PANTS AND KEEP YOUR PANTS ZIPPED UP!!!!

Truly sad, in this day and age for anyone in the world to be starving! Where are the humanitarian orgainzations? Why aren't these people receiving aid such as rice and flour? Why not help thse people to grow food? Where is the UN in this matter? All the UN can do is condemn Israel, and bendover to arab nations , what about the UN's job to help the worlds poor?
Perhaps if poor women would have one child instead of 6;they could afford to feed one child.I wouldn't send any help to Haiti unless it was coupled with birth control.

sarcasim? having lived in haiti for a brief time during undergraduate study exchange, your comment mirrors the problem. why, if your are a cynic would you opt to be so glib about this problem?

haiti is improvished and sadly forgotten. why can't we educate the population., i.e. farming so or other resources to improve their plight?

Thanks for giving this some thought.

peace.

ive drove over the dead bodies that littered the streets.

the stench of the rotting corpses will never leave my mind.

those who have will never assist those who are dying.

same as the current united states government.

the next election will be just like irans last election.

i have seen the dirt cookies and can vouch it does happen...it is also not just about starving but i believe it is like an old wives tale in Haiti for pregnant women to eat dirt cookies to get more/different types of minerals & vitamins in their diets...but still sad no doubt
