when will somebody take responsibility for keeping the strays of the streets, how many more have to die, and dont forget the cost to treat these victims.
you have to hit the owners very hard where it hurts
and that is heavy fines, and pound fees.

This problem used to be controlled by the Police/Abbotwar...impound the cows or send it to the Abbotwar...not a big problem years ago. Hard to believe they are stray cows in Guyana Mayor and city council used to take care of that.. may be somebody is droping the ball... |

Animal Control Officers perform a variety of services that help animals and people; rescuing injured animals, controlling stray and potentially dangerous animals roaming at large, and bringing lost pets to an animal shelter where their owners can reclaim them.

There are alot of stray cows and horses and they should be rounded up and placed in a state reserve to roam freely. These animals simply don't know better and their owners can't afford to mind them so they just get away and roam freely and when a collision between them and a vehicle occurs forget the money it costs to fix the vehicle but the lives lost.

fool we are not talking about distress animals, we are talking about strays on the streets causing massive destructions and death, and dont forget the cost of the health care. |

yes, strays have the potential to inflict injuries to innocent road users. the ministry of agriculture and police should work out something to confiscate the animals from their inhumane handlers.
|
|
Remember that a stray animal could very well be somebody’s lost pet and they might be searching for it. In any case, getting an animal off the street is our humane responsibility.

cows, pigs, sheep and goats are not pets. stop with the excuse. |

This is a problem that this country has been facing for the longest while. We need to get rid of those stray animals and keep our streets clean for many purposes. We need to showcase Guyana better and this will help.
I think we need to set up one of those animal pound and charge people when there animals are caught straying and they will need to pay a fine. |

Tyron your thinking is not bad but it has not worked... The owners of these strays cannot afford to pay the fine and if they deliberately allow their animals to stray what makes you think that they would really want them back to stray again?
People in decent neighbourhoods like Lilliendaal (forgive me if i spelt it wrong) have cattle and horses, sheep and goats... making a mess of the neighbourhood. The Agriculture ministry should put a stop to people rearing farm animals in residential neighbourhoods and only farmers with a certain amount of land can have them. |
another one bite the dust. see photo in your local papers. or, are these drivers just dont know how to drive. |

glad to hear that they are making efforts to stamp out the animals[cows, sheep, goats ands hogs/pigs]
off the streets and into pastures. the next step is to fine and suspend the license of those reckless and drunk drivers. this is not to penalize them but for them to have respect for others on the road and their passengers. |

All road users need to show consideration for each other. Owners of farm animals keep your animals locked away and dogs tied up!!
|
|
If I should find a cow/ sheep/ goat on the streets and take it home, can I then claim it as my own. Finders, keepers? Is there a law that says that farm animals must be penned?
I would not mind starting my own farm with stray animals. Nice easy income. |

I am perturbed by the recent killing of dogs by a gang of men armed with cutlasses who mercilessly hacked off their heads. The reason for this is that the dogs were killing sheep but they had no evidence to prove it but they decided to take into their hands and go onto people's yards lasso the dogs and drag them out and kill them at the side of a canal. How can they be so insensitive and sick.
I want the police force and the GSPCA (Guyana Society of Prevention and Cruelty to Animals) to bring these killers to justice!! This is a massacre on dogs! What type of people do we have living in Guyana now? How can we portray Guyana as a well proper developing country like this? Don't they care that people all over the world would be reading this on the news and say Guyana is a horrible place to live? I denounce this inhumane act! http://www.stabroeknews.com/... |
Every time I begin to have a few positive thoughts about Guyana I’ll read about some monstrosity committed in Guyana. I myself would like to know what have become to so many people in Guyana to have become so inhumane. The savage killing of innocent animals is extremely sickening. I have pets at home, presently two cats and two dogs. I do hope these sadists will be jailed. It is high time that prisoners start working for their costs. Let them farm/ build roads and cleanup the country in chain gangs like America and other countries had in the past. |
|
they still do. |
|
Look at that I thought it was something of the past and we as a developing nation is badly in need of free labour.(which is not entirely free, after all these criminals are housed, fed and clothe, something they might not have had to struggle for if they were free). So why should brave citizens shoulder the burden of supporting these bastards. |

well, I hope that those well know street animals do not return to the streets, seeing that there leader cornmeal has returned.
This time around, I do not think there will be any snacks or provided transportation, in light of the scrutineer`s money being finished. |
