Another hard-luck tale in MSM's advocacy on behalf of illegal aliens. Think about illegals and criminals, and you've pretty much laid out Ruben's columns. "doing the stinky that needs changing"...I'm thinking Pulitzer at this point--if not Nobel.

Ilegal is illegal. They all have to go if they do not follow the rules. No exceptions, enough is enough.

You guys have no idea what it's like in many other countries. How about you go visit one of the 3rd world countries and then see if your attitude changes. I was fortunate enough to have been born here in the U.S. and I don't understand why so many people in this country who make plenty of money are so unwilling to share it with those less fortunate. Bono from U2 said it best "because where you live should not decide, whether you live or whether you die". People don't have a choice as to where they were born. This woman's story is one of many similar ones, it's how it is out there and worse.

People are raped and kidnapped everywhere, and even people in my neighborhood fear retaliaton if they cross the wrong gangster....obviously she does not meet the requirements of amnesty - time for her to leave. As usual, a bunch of crap from Rosario!

I don't think anyone is saying don't come here. Just do it LEGALLY!

Typical. No way of even verifying the truth. My, our nanny state is so full of officials that care more about looking compasssionate than even finding the truth. People from certain parts of the world have a history of making up stories, playing on peoples pity to try to stay here. Happens every day. We have no backbone in this state anymore, send her back, don't worry she'll be back soon.

The more I travel the world and spend time in third world nations, the more I learn about my own country. Ethnocentrism in our fear-driven nation is growing more popular and powerful everyday. The tragic dumbing-down of our citizens is no more obvious than in these sad-cynical responses.

Having been to several other countries that are still in the stone age, why don't these people stay and fight to change the country they live in, instead of expecting that they should be able to come here and demand we change to acconodate them. Enough is enough! Send them packing and let us get our country back to American standards!

Welcome back Ruben! We've missed you! Yep, here we go again: Another illegal alien that's turned superglue that Ruben thinks owns the place. This time utter "asylum" and that's all it takes. And if a claim is turned turn? No matter, just ignore the outcome and flaunt our laws. But that's a-o-k with our Ruben. For someone that writes about "justice", he sure doesn't care about the law.

This is a reply to 'Tired'. 'Stone age' a rather undermining, crude and thoughtless word that I do not expect from an educated American citizen. I challenge Tired to explain what 'stone age' means.'Having been to several countries...' do you consider them 'stone age'? The people who go to America to change their country go to America because they hear America is about freedom of speech, freedom of rights, etc. In their own country, they would be persecuted for speaking up. In 2nd and 3rd world countries, there is a limit to the amount of rights an individual can have- even if the country is democratic. It is all because they are still used to the old ways which are, mind you, NOT stone age. These people come to America to live peacefully- I doubt if anyone WANTS to even have a CHANCE of going through this lady's experience (fake or not) at all. I also demand for an explanation of what is an 'American Standard'. Somehow, in today's corrupt world, I no longer see America, as a whole, living up to an 'American Standard'. I believe that what this communitiy is doing is up to, if not past, an 'American Standard'. Are you aware that someone, helping a fellow person in need, regardless of race, has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS, OF BEING LEGAL OR NOT?! The newspaper is simply trying to let others know about the case and how those in the community have good moral values, that they care, even if she may be, from what it seems like everyone who has commented (except for two) is clearly saying, an 'illegal lying immigrant'. The racial tolerance in everybody's (except for two) post is quite clear. To anyone who has read the article, and then the post, I feel as if they would be confused about what is the true nature of Americans- caring one moment and a bunch of so-called educated people who know nothing about the world and unwittingly and ultimately bring down the image of caring people the next. I am so ashamed of the country I grew up in.(And the next comment is for any 'educated' American who thinks, just move to another country you moron) I have lived in and out of different 3rd world countries for the last four years, am probably younger than all of the people who have posted comments on this page and though several of you may have lived longer, I seem to have more experience of worldly affairs than all of you combined or ever will have in a lifetime. It seems that only a few people who have posted comments are actually using their brains and thinking hard about the situation at hand. 'Send them packing...' And leave the 'educated' people in America behind, many of whom do not know how to use their brains, who are not open minded, to take care of the country and 'get our country back to American standards'. There are people who are civilized, with the meaning of civilized being to apply knowledge, and I see that 10 out of 12 people who have commented before me is actually uncivilized. Can America get back to a high standard with the odds of the uncivilized being more than the civilized people? The only 'civilized' I can see is a few on the news, and many 'uncivilized' being the people in the comments. Please, before you comment, think,'what if that happened to me? How would I react if I read what I would have said, even if I'm telling the truth about my plight?' If you can't, you have failed everyone and you have dropped to the lowest level of all. If you have no idea what a lowest level is, here's a hint:trash that poisons and litters the world. If American Standard means being racially intolerant, blind to other customs, making fun of other religions, speaking (and thinking) thoughtlessly even though one may have had a good education, looking down on others and spouting bad words every six seconds in informal speech, then I have no idea of what has become of Americans today.

Note to Do It Legally
|
I know people who are trying to do it legally and they filed papers 7 yrs ago and are STILL waiting for their name to be picked. This person has hired an immigration lawyer for the 2nd time for assistance. Plus...many countries will not give permission for their citizens to leave their own country. I've seen it happen time and time again. You may "think" it's easy to become a legal alien in U.S., but it's not always the case. And what do you think the U.S. is made up of....it was started by a bunch of people who left their own country to start this one - a free one - think about what "United" and "States" means. Better yet, look it up and get educated because you obviously know nothing about the real world outside your own walls.

...because this woman has the support of the community, I think she should stay- if she had no other person who cared enough to take care of her (give her a job) open their home to her , then I would question whether our community should take on the burden of her... but again, here we see that it is not the case, shoe will be an asset and no burden due to all the support she already has gained~

Rosario is the biggest journaistic hack in this paper. He is typical liberal that manufactures stories documenting how terrible this country is because we won't open our doors further to "Immigration." Rueben, if this country is so bad, why do you not emigrate out of the US. Your manufactured stories are both an intellectual burden and are quite tiresome.

Every time I read these forums, they're full of anti-immigrant and anti-refugee rants. And it's not just about illegal immigrants. People rant about LEGAL Somalis, LEGAL Hmong, LEGAL people who speak other languages or who have other religions, LEGAL people who don't look like them. Because this article is about someone who's illegal, you say "this is about illegal immigration," but as soon as the next article comes out about someone with a hispanic, Somali, or Hmong last name who happens to be here legally, these forums will be full of the exact same BS. But that time, people will say it's about poverty, about crime, about religion, about language, blah blah blah. There's always some excuse to be against immigrants, right?
