Unfortunately, the beautiful lands of Virgin Guatemala are experience lack of joy, health, wealth and peace within itself. It has been contaminated with ill minded souls who were raised in the US, commited crime and then deported to this nation. Half not being Guatemalan but Salvadorean of which should be deported to their country. The violence increasing is worst than being in the middle of war. Guatemala is full of richness; I hope one day its people will be able to experience the contrary of what it is living.

I have spent years and only bad guys have guns..
They need a push to get the good guatemalans guns so they can defend themselves against the thugs, since their police are corrupt and worthless.

I love guatemala.. The indigenous are fabulous hard working and mostly peaceful christians..
Its the city and its MS-13 gangsters who are doing damaged.. For the problem to be solved they will have to be jailed or killed in a shootout because they are the toughest bunch of gangsters I have ever seen.

Hmmm... yea i live in Canada as well... My father has a very high position in the government in Guatemala, and I know for a fact there are a lot of good people but many are corrupt... There is an internal war going on within the government, many say that the political party of Efrain Rios Monnt the (FRG) is behind a lot of the corruption and drug trafficking problems there. They are after all responsible for the murder of over 70,000 Mayans indians in just over 1 year in early 1980"s (Read... Nunca Mas report). The ones that were in power than are still in power now.. Efrain Rios Mont founded the party after forcing himself into the presidency, and he did this by suppressing and murdering tens of thousands of people.... He has not changed to this day and neither have all the corrupt officials that belong to his party.
I hope one day they will make the FRG disappear from the face of Guatemalan politics!

Hey Erik, reason why nothing is happening is because the people in power, what i mean by that is all the people that make up the congress are corrupt and have buisnesses that profit from insecurity in the country for example, there are over 30,000 private security guards in Guatemala and only 18,000 police officers. Some of this congress man and woman own these private security companies and without the high level of crime and violence in the country many of them would go out of buisness.
MY POINT IS THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS SO CORRUPT, THERE IS SO MUCH CONFLICT OF INTEREST BETWEEN PRIVATE COMPANIES AND HIGH OFFICIALS THAT ALL THE BLAME FALLS ON THEM!
OHHHH.... AND LETS NOT FORGET THE BIGGEST MONEY MAKING TRADE OF THEM ALL..... NARCOTRAFFICKING

Unfortunately, some very rich countries do not wish Guatemala to 'grow'. This way, they can ship us cheap bananas. Cheap snow peas. Tomatoes. Avocadoes. Etc.
I am sure you get the point...
I have spent months there myself and i have found it utterly sad. These people have been raped and killed... for hundreds of years.
No wonder the Natives there as well do not trust the Gringos...

I when to Guatemala in April 2009, with a church. We did not go out after dark. We did however drive about 45 min. in to the country side to do mission work , built 7- 12 foot X 12 foot huts with one door and a window. We did medical work two day and two food hand outs. all this was done though local churchs. Six families come to know Chirst. We worked hard and God BLESSED us greatly. Yes there is alot to do. hoping to go back in april again. You all can help by praying for the people of Guatemala. kd5rii@hotmail.com

THE GOVERNMENTS OF CENTRAL AMERICA NEEDS TO FROM AN ALLIANCE WITHIN ITS SELF WITH ONE CURRENCY TO STABLIZE THE REGION FOR PROSPERITY WITH NO OUTSIDE FORCES TRYING TO DESTABLIZE THE REGION
