Tragedy overshadows Mexico's independence holiday

Full story: El Paso Times

Mexicans began their Independence Day celebrations under heavy police surveillance Tuesday and with a somber memorial for eight revelers killed last year in a shocking grenade attack on the public by drug traffickers.

"'We can't lose our right to be out on the streets,' said Menchu, an Indian rights activist whose family was killed during the Guatemalan civil war."

What has activism done for Mexico all these years? Activism by its very nature is contrary to peace and prosperity. If the communists can import Mexican activism here, they will see to it that we also cease having peace and prosperity and make our country ripe for a communist takeover. In fact they may already had a negative impact on both peace and prosperity. There seems to always be a surfeit of Mexican activists marching in our streets, with nothing gainful to do, demanding more rights and less responsibilities. They disguise their demands with phony claims of racism and prejudice to beat down the Anglo will to resist them.

Tell that to Patrick Henry and Martin Luther King Jr. What exactly is a communist takeover anyways? Could you even define "communism" or "socialism" or "marxism", or do you just spread those words around because its cool?

Mexico is not free or independent. People in Mexico can't even bare arms. The constitution says yes, but the people know that it is a big NO-NO. It's pretty sad that the Mexican celebrations are no longer fun. Everyone is worried about people coming in with automatic weapons and killing people.
What a shame, such a beautiful country with so many resources, tourist attractions, history and wonderful people.

There is nothing cool about any of these forms of government, and they're being spread around because that's what we have in the White House.
Most conservatives know the definitions while most liberals can't even name their own senators or the Attoney General.( as proven by the man in the street interviews of Obama voters)

Activism and DHDH, your right..
Liberals don't understand the definitions of political ideology.
Mexico is not free. I have lived their for parts of the last 10 years. Many young people where CHE communism t-shirts and love without knowing how cruel the mad man was.
Mexico and Central America are ripe for Hugo Chavez or Castro like takeover as the personal liberties and opportunities are being reduced to imaginations.. Its very sad, but unless the locals stand up and shoot the philanthropic neighbor of a drug dealer, it will be trouble with civil war abounding.

Daily Horoscope for December 14

Virgo

It's a great day for doing some Christmas shopping. You've got the stamina to fight your way round the shops and the interest to see what's on offer when you get there. However, you'll be very tempted to buy whatever you see first and only look at the price tag later, which could turn out to be a very expensive tactic.
