News Photosfire in hanioti PLEASE HELP

A couple of minutes ago I received a disturbing phonecall from my brother who is currently in Hanioti, Greece. He informed me that he is on a beach and that the fire is sorounding them. This is NOT a prank, he sounded very frightend. I'm scouring the net for any information but so far without any luck. He said that fire is coming from two sides a asked me to look where /which direction can they hide/move/escape. I'm from Serbia so I don't have access to any local greece tv or news station. Any help will be appriciated. Thank you in advance

I have heard the same, my friend (also from Serbia) is also trapped on a beach, and I am trying to find out what is going on and how those people can be helped!

Hi, my boyfriend's family are out there but I only know they're in Halkidiki. Apparently they are stuck in their room with smoke around but that's all we know. Does anyone have any more info, especially regarding what areas are being affected?!

try to call your family and take them to the beach , i dono .. mommie says that they are in safe and they are a lots of ppl down there.. the fire is going up from the main street ..post some other link if u find something.. i am still trying |

I still can not find any headline news... I have tried BBC, SKY, CNN.... nothing... the only information comes from those posts...

My parent ares stuck in Halkidiki on a beach, like you people I have no idea where exactly, I am scouring the net, but not having much luck either.

I have just heard at the local TV news (studio B) that people are safe and that firefighters are controlling the fire...

My girlfriend with her family (from Russia) is also trapped on a beach in Halkidiki. 5 minutes ago she wrote they were trying to escape. Don't know how. She said the wind direction is very important. Now it's from the sea and they can breathe...

i just talked with mom again, she is better now, the village is in smoke, the half is burnt , but the rest is only in smoke , the wind make the breathing hard, but its okey on the beach, they are all on the beach, trying to come down...

Other TV ( B-92 ) station talked to our consulate officials in Thesaloniki - all people are safe and that is the most important thing right now!!!

We just came back from Hanioti on Thursday - some friends are still there, they are on Hanioti beach after being evacuated from hotel. Can't get through to hotel we were in as phones are down. Wish we could get more news. We have stayed in same hotel for last 2 years and know the owners well; we hope they are all ok. |
