NOT TO BE MISSED TODAY AT 18:30 Greek time zone. In 5 mins from now
http://www.sgt.gr/en/programme/event/688 In the spring of 399 B.C., Socrates confronted 500 Athenians, citizens, judges and jurors, in his trial initiated by the charges leveled at him by Meletus, Anytos and Lycon. The trial began with a reading of the formal charges: "Socrates is a doer of evil, and corrupter of the youth, and he does not believe in the gods of the state, and he believes in other new divinities of his own." On May 2012, almost 2,500 years later, the trial of Socrates is repeated. This time Socrates is acquitted in a historical trial which is not a re-enactment but a modern perspective based on current legal framework supplemented with ancient Greek elements and comical theatrics. The Alexander S. Onassis Foundation found advocates for its venture, top American and European judges and lawyers, who all examined the trial material retrieved from ancient texts by Plato (Apology, Crito, Euthyphro, Phaedo), Xenophon (Memorabilia) and Aristophanes (The Clouds), as well as the corresponding Athenian law of that time. The Court: Lord Justice Richard Aikens, Judge, member of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales (UK) Sophie-Caroline De Margerie, member of the Conseil d’Etat (France) Pierre Delvolvé, member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences (France) Dr. Giusep Nay, Dr. iur., former President of the Federal Court of Switzerland (Switzerland) Loretta Preska, Chief Judge of the Southern District of New York (USA) Anna Psarouda-Benaki, Professor emerita of Criminal Law, former chair of Hellenic Parliament (Greece) Vasileios Rigas, former Vice President of the Athens Supreme Court (Greece) Sir Stephen Sedley, member of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales (UK) François Terré, member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences (France) Harm Peter Westermann, Law Professor, University of Tubingen (Germany) Counsels for the City of Athens: Professor Ilias Anagnostopoulos, Assistant Professor of Criminal and Forensic Studies (University of Athens), Supreme Court lawyer (Greece) Dr. Anthony Papadimitriou, Barrister, Esq., President, Onassis Foundation (Greece) Counsels for Socrates: Michael Beloff, QC, Barrister (UK) Patrick Simon, Barrister (France) |

Judged: 1 What a joke. Why did the world forgive the Germans who are responsible for the death of 60 million people? Why did the world and especially Greece forgive Germany which destroyed many countries only because of their expansion politics? And who built Germany? The Germans? No, they were too "busy" for other things to do. Then who did? The answer is: Foreigners. Foreigners from countries who were attacked by Nazi Germany. Did Germany ever pay off its debt against Greece? NO! Did German companies "pay" many of our politicians to "sell" Greece their products? YES. Examples: The corruption of Siemens, or the case where Tsohatsopoulos was "payed" to import till now German and French military products. So, everybody should just shut up and especially the Germans! I do not claim that the Greeks are not responsible for their debts. Because they are. Greeks are many things but they are not lazy! That the system in Greece is not working and is corrupt is true. We elected and accepted (!) the governments which brought us here. But I do not allow others to laugh about Greece because history showed that they never were better! |

Judged: 1 besides, you have already gain over 90 billions from greek crisis. and you have to pay another 250 billions from your crimes back in 40 s. if you add the fact that germany take money with only 1% and borrows with 5 or 6,,,then you ll realise that its well known who the f@ck is the real thieve in europe. i think you are pissed off with the factthat greeks delayed you and the russians had all the time to react but you ll not make it again nommater how your disgusting merkel tries for. so,start doing what you know best (bukkakes) and shut your barbaric mouth cause greeks are by far more clever than you. |

You Germans [not all] upset the Greeks...you Insulting them, in your Newspapers and in your Media for quite a considerable amount of time. You never Insulted the Irish or the Portuguese, and you certainly would never consider Insulting the Spanish or the Italians. You Germans [Merkel Regime] destoyed the Greek economy and the Greeks way of life...almost destroyed the Hellenic Nation! I say, Greece is right to share some of that destruction with Germany! With Greece out of the limelight...Spain has become the focus of attention, and after Spain it shall be Italy. The longer Greece keeps up the uncertainty...the focus of attention may reach Germany itself. When Fritz Gunther and Jurgen called the Greeks lazy Southern-Europeans...they started something Toxic in the EU! Now, the German is viewed like he has Money but No brains...No leadership skills either! |

You should not compare Greece with the Spain, Portugal etc. These countries have a better behavior, a more pleasant mentality, more dignity and ambition. But for me the biggest difference is, that all these countries are more trustwothy than Greece. Who today can really trust Greeks? This is simply the result of your way of live over the last decades and only your responsibility. So please don't bother us with "your situation is the result of Germanys policy. Who started to insulate others? What do you think we Germans accept that you call us nazis, burn our flags or that you started a hate-campaign against Germans. I have no problem if people like you distribute lies and hate-triads. But you can not really think this remains without reacting. |

Arrogant Germanic Runt! You Germanic Gits started the Insults...It was You, you know that, right Fritz! And now...You lost credibility in the eyes of the world! Germans are seen as Arrogant Gits with lots of Money but with little brains...and No leadership skills. Destruction works both ways...you know that, right! |

As long as we "brainless" Germans are light years ahead of you I definetely have no problem with your written nonsense. Call me Fritz or whatever you want. People with your strange character can never insult me. For me you are just a Greek clown!!! |
