On This Day: Armistice Ends World War I

I didn't know the U.S. arrived so late. The war ended pretty much right after we got there.

Yes, the US only joined when the Lusithania was sank by a German U-boat. Before that, the US enjoyed isolationism.
The American contribution was not important to the outcome of the war.
Germany wasn't defeated: it's social unrest in the country that brought the government down and made it seek peace.

At the time of the armistice, Germany was still occupying part of France, whilst none of its territory was in enemy's hands!!

The Central powers were being pushed back on all fronts, they didnt have any reserves of war materials such as metals, Brass, Copper and rubber, and food was scarce. They had just expended all these reserves of men and material in the spring offensive and it stalled out after many gains further into France. The western forces were well supplied from materials and fresh men from the U.S. Most of the U.S. forces were a balance to the German forces that were freed up from the eastern front with Russia after the fall of the Russian Czar.
Americans were only there for a year or so while everyone else had been fighting sense 1914. We probably did more for the French and British by supplying them with food and materials. The only real stand out were the U.S. Marines that were exceptional marksmen using the Springfield 1903 rifle. The Americans were really just a minor player for a limited amount of time. They did spill too much blood for Europe and their royal dynasty's. should have stayed out...wasnt our business, even when the Lusitania was torpedoed the Germans had taken out a big ad in the New York news papers to warn that there were going to be targeted and torpedoed if spotted. They knew the danger and they still went so Oh well! America did make a bunch of money from the war and thats all they should have done.

That's because Germany knew how to kick ass and take no prisoners!

In fact, Germany took many allied prisoners.

The defeat of Germany was brought by social unrest caused by economic woes.
Germany was just running out of resources and the population suffered too much from deprivation that the country virtually collapsed.

The same scenario had just brought down the Russian Empire in the East and the Austian Empire in the South. The 3 emperors took the blame for the chaos and lost their thrones!!
