Totally agree...the current government is corrupt and supports and wants to parden the people (2000 coup) who put Fiji in this state in the first place...Army is right in doing what it is doing. Atleast the commander has the guts to stand up and be fair to one and all for the betterment of the country.

FB is going through some hard times. The man is also carrying a lot of hurt especially when he ran for his life down the gullies of the Nabua hill. His opposition is colured by the emotions surrounding what he went through. his men are following to avoid losing their jobs. The army needs restructuring and alot of help in getting them understand that governing goes beyond the RTU and QQ bill. God Bless Fiji

Yea - amazing how people are more concerned with Nicole and bulsh than they are with the welfare of an amazing country. Frank has good intentions no doubt and in tune with the spirit of the law - probably more so than corrupt people who use it to their advantage. Unfortunately there were elections that brought about the situation as it is today.
What Frank needs to do is abide by the law and constitution to get legitimacy both internally and in the international community.
He needs to get into politics and away from military coups and lobby for a change to the electoral system that would see a more representative form of government.
It may be that Fiji has to go through the bulsh and corruption till the next generation come through but lets hope it doesn't take to eternity when all its assets are sold off, the wealth is in the hands of one or two and owned offshore, and the majority are poverty stricken. It seems Frank is concerned about these issues but he needs to address them legitimately. Unfortunately in this 'global' environment, there are all too many ready to interfere, rather than assist in other sovereign nations' internal affairs.

The sacking is secondary. What the Commander has taught the youths of Fiji today that it is okay to disobey your immediate superiors, let alone killing the arm that is feeding you.Innocents are dying here. We just receive our warning letters that if crisis continues, our hotel will redunct workers. Thanks for your crazy support Jope. I hope you were here in Fiji and not abroad. It is not the sacking of the Commander that matters. It is the principles displayed by him. Fiji youths now realize that insurbodination and disrespect of the hands that is feeding you is accepted in the society.Rebellion is the better word.Good work Jope. If only you were here to experience yourself.

Though bulsh and corruption may be biased, but I think it is better then another coup which will close uo everything. Maybe Frank should register a "military Party" in next elections.

WHAT NOW ?, FRANK CALLED ON QARASE AND HIS CRONIES TO RESIGN. QARASE THEN TOLD THE PRESIDENT THAT IF FRANK IS NOT REMOVED THEN HE WILL RESIGN. THE PRESIDENT TRIED TO OUST FRANK AND REPLACE HIM WITH ANOTHER MILITARY OFFICER BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL BECAUSE THE OFFICER HAD HIS ALLEGIENCE TO FRANK. THE PRESIDENTS OFFICE SAW THAT THEY COULDN'T REMOVE AND REPLACE FRANK SO THEY WITHDREW THEIR ORDER. QARASE THEN GOES AHEAD AND SAYS HE WONT RESIGN.THAT LOOKS TO ME LIKE AN EMPTY THREAT. THE MILITARY HAS ALREADY SAID THAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO TAKE-OVER THE GOVERNMENT AND I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE TRUE. QARASE SEEMS TO BE TRYING TO "PAINT" A COUP PICTURE TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD FOR SYMPATHY AS THE MILITARY ALREADY HAS A NEGATIVE CONNOTATION TO IT THROUGH ITS NEGATIVE HISTORY IN FIJI. WHAT NO-ONE SEEMS TO REALISE IS THAT THE PLAYERS ARE DIFFERENT AND WE SHOULD DO AWAY WITH ASSUMPTIONS THAT ARE BASED ON HISTORY. A KNIFE IS STILL A KNIFE. WHAT IS DIFFERENT IS WHO HOLDS IT. A KNIFE IN A SERIAL KILLERS HAND IS THE SAME AS THE ONE IN A FARMERS HAND.THE DIFFERENCE IS IN WHAT THEY USE IT FOR AND I BELIEVE THAT FRANK IS RIGHT. HE KNOWS THINGS WE DO NOT KNOW AND HIS MEN ARE NOT DUMB NOR BLIND. AS THE OLD ADAGE GOES, EVERYTHING HAS A PRICE. NOW THAT HE IS IN, QARASE HAS TO PAY THROUGH THE PARDONING OF THE PERPETRATORS VEILED IN A "RECONCILIATION BILL". WHO IS GOING TO 'RECONCILE' THE LOST PAY OF THOUSANDS OF FIJI WORKERS WHO LOST THEIR JOBS DURING THE TAKE-OVER. DID THEY HAVE TO 'PAY' TOO. I CAN SEE THAT QARASE AND HIS CRONIES ARE MAKING THEIRS. ANY-WAYS, THE COMMENT ABOUT SPEAKING FROM OUTSIDE OF FIJI IS UN-WARRANTED. OUR PARENTS AND SIBLINGS ARE STILL THERE AND THIS IS WHY I SUPPORT FRANK. SO THEY CAN HAVE A BETTER FUTURE WITHOUT THE NIGGLING THOUGHT OF RIFE CORRUPTION IN GOVERNMENT WHICH IS WHOM THEIR TAX MONEY ARE GOING TO AND THE IDEA THAT THEY ARE SECOND CLASS CITIZENS AS CAN BE SEEN BY THE DEMARKATED POLICIES OF THE GOVERNMENT. YOU GO FRANK, YOU BE OUR CONSCIENCE. GOD BLESS FIJI.

As a Military man, Frank's job is to obey the constitution and President who should acts on the recommendations and in the spirit of the elected government - thats as long as people want a democracy. If not then they will be happy with a coup presumably and all that it may bring. If they do want a democracy, they will be lobbying their politicians to represent their wishes and awaiting the next election, reflective on what this one brought them. Perhaps even lobbying for a change in the electoral system. Its a concept that the Military seems to understand when they support missions in support of democracy overseas - they just don't seem to understand it within Fiji where they have an emotional attachment and self-interest in the people - all of whom end up beingthe losers.
What happens now is possibly that Qarase stays but agrees to "re-evaluate" contentious proposed legislation - perhaps tones it down a bit. Perhaps he even agrees to look deeper into corruption and makes some concessions on open government. Perhaps he looks for ways to appease some of the Military's concerns in exchange for their acceptance of their recognition of their correct place in a democracy.

I am truly a Dumb person and I expect criticism for this simple point that I will put through....
What Frank is trying to prevent is, getting a pardon if Bloodshed is to occur. that is exactly what the RTU bill stands for.
Any person who wishes to destroy the Democratically elected Gorvnment of the day will spend maybe four years in confinement before pleaing in accordance to the RTU bill and walk away whistling as a free man.
I am Dumb though, As i have earlier mentioned, but smart enough to see a corrupt and apple polishing gorvenment that hangs out like dogs balls....
you go Frank !!!
I Fear destruction in Fiji due to these issues, but, worser than destruction is CORRUPTION... if we can destroy corruption than there will be no more DESTRUCTIONS

why he is so worried about something not yet happening, the bills will go thru the proper channel, not just a presentation, and its passed, it will be a debate first, what the commander and his troops should worry about are the foreighners who tried to evade our beautiful islands, someone like Peter Foster, and also the unlicensed fishing vessel which the Greenpeace in Fiji did last week, they just sneak to our island under the navy's nose, cause the navy was more worried about its ammunition coming....

what u saying is nonsense....the commander himself is like baby crying for food. The situation for the two parties could be solved by means of dialogue and not opening his big mouth everywhere he goes. Qarase has done tremendously in this country since 2001. Let me quote what Edmund Burke said " The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". Keep the good fight Mr.PM. MELI wrote: Frank is the best and loyal to Fiji. Meli, when was the last time you went to Fiji. I was in Fiji last December and saw with my eyes the development, Qarase and his govt has done. So before you open you mouth about what "Qarase" has done, ask the ones who visit Fiji often first. If you are overstaying in America, its time to go back & see what he has done. Shame on all the Fijians who are living (overstayers) in foreign countries who are just reading and not seeing what the "Qarase" govt has done. Thats why they were elected again. Qarase, for your information, is doing a great job for everyone and anyone whose being there (1 do every year) can tell you first hand. So all you "overstayers" pack your bags and go back to Fiji and run your mouth there.
