Alguna vez escuchaste la historia de Antonio Rivero contada por la malvinense Yolanda Bertrand, 4ª generación Bertrand en Malvinas? Supongo que has escuchado en las islas los nombres de los caballos como zaino, tordillo, el cerro Bombilla, entre otros nombres criollos que todavía se usan en nuestras islas Malvinas.

Las actas y documentos escritos que han llegado a nuestros días fueron efectuadas por los mismos británicos y se menciona que a los "gauchos" e "indios" que habían podido quedarse en Malvinas se les usaba como peones en duras tareas y se les pagaba sólo con "vales", también se hace mención de que Rivero y sus compañeros arriaron la bandera británica y enarbolaron una improvisada bandera argentina.
A Rivero y a sus compañeros se les hizo un proceso en el buque Spartiate, de la estación naval británica de América del Sur. Tan inicuo, que el almirante inglés no se atrevió a convalidarlo, y prefirió desprenderse del asunto desembarcando a Rivero y los suyos en la República Oriental del Uruguay.
Según versión de los hechos, el tribunal se declaró incompetente debido a que los crímenes no habían tenido lugar en el territorio de la corona.
Allí permanecen por varios meses presos hasta que el ministerio fiscal, estudiados los antecedentes del caso, le aconseja al Almirantazgo dejarlos en libertad y embarcarlos de vuelta, lo que así ocurre.
