Annie, You full of sh%t...as always.

Archbishop Damaskinos leader of the Orthodox Church Of Greece:

During the Holocaust, Archbishop Damaskinos and Athens police chief Angelos Evert saved thousands of Greek Jews.

The Church of Greece, under Damaskinos’ leadership, condemned Hitler’s plans for the country and instructed priests to announce its position in their sermons.

When the Germans started rounding up Jews, over 600 Greek Orthodox priests were arrested and deported because of their actions in helping Jews, and many Jews were saved by the Greek police, the clergy and the resistance. Damaskinos and Evert faced the threat of death for their efforts, and would surely been killed if the extent of their assistance had become known to the Germans.

Archbishop Damaskinos oversaw the creation of several thousand such certificates, and Athens police chief Evert provided more than 27,000 false identify papers to desperate Jews seeking protection from the Nazis.

The Archbishop also ordered monasteries and convents in Athens to shelter Jews, and urged his priests to ask their congregations to hide the Jews in their homes. As a result, more than 250 Jewish children were hidden by Orthodox clergy alone.

Many, many, Germans and Polacks hid and protected Jews during WWII but that doesn't prove the Holocaust didn't take place, anymore than "some" kind Grease people prove that the people of Grease were (and are) not a Jew-hating population. Jews were shipped by train loads from Grease to the extermination camps with the Grease people cheering!

Seems to me you're one of the biggest "haters" on thos forum. You even refer to Poles as Polacks!! who btw are your fellow Slavs.

Greek Jews where shipped to the concentration camps during the Nazi occupation together with many Orthodox Greeks who were caught hidding them....I don't think they were Cheering however.

Please show us where and when Greeks were cheering as their Greek Jewish neighbors were being sent to their deaths.

The Jews of Zakynthos share a similar history with the Jews of the Ionian islands, except that all 275 Jews of Zakynthos survived the Holocaust. The courageous actions of Bishop Chrysostomos and Mayor Loukas Carrer in helping these individuals led Yad Vashem to include them in the "Righteous Among Nations."

In 1944 Mayor Carrer was ordered at gunpoint
to hand over a list of Jews residing on the island. The
list was presented to the Germans containing only two names: Mayor Carrer and Bishop Chrysostomos.

The Bishop bravely told the Germans, "Here are your Jews. If you choose to deport the Jews of Zakynthos, you must also take me and I will share their fate."

In the interim, all the Jews of the island were safely hidden in the mountainous villages. While the whole island knew what was happening, not one person revealed their whereabouts.

In 1940 there were 882 Jews living in Volos. With the occupation of Greece, Volos was placed in the Italian zone of occupation, and the Jews of the city lived in relative safety until the Germans took over in September of 1943.

The Germans chose March 25, 1944, Greek Independence Day, to deport the Jews of Volos, and any Jews remaining on the Greek mainland. Due to the valiant efforts of Rabbi Pessah, Archbishop Ioakim (honored at Yad Vashem as "Righteous Among Nations"), and the EAM, 74 percent of Volos’ Jews were saved. Of more than 1,000 Jews living in the city in March 1944, only 130 were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

He/She sure as hell is harboring some strong resentment against Greeks

Annie have you considered voicing your opinions in a public forum?

All you have to do is go to a local Greek community centre or church and just let the people know how you feel.

hahaha...you can't usnderstand why calling a Pole "Polack" is wrong? That tells me alot about your education level.

Hey idiot, is calling an Italian a W.O.P. ok with you too? Why am I even asking, Im sure I know the answer.

You still havent presented me with links of Greeks cheering as the Nazi trains were leaving Greece.

Greeks do have a problem with the Israeli treatment of Palestinians as is the case with almost the entire world.

But havent you heard that Greece, Cyprus and Israel are now very close allies. Actually Greece and Cyprus are the only Allies Israel has in the Eastern Mediterannean.

Greece even allows the Israeli Navy to conduct military exercizes over the Aegean.

Your logic is pretty shitty. You say Germans and Polish people (Polacks is racist) hid Jews while Greeks were cheering. You mean to say there were no Germans and Polish people who were cheering? Haven't you ever seen one of Hitlers speeches where the majority of the German population cheers and cries in laughter after he says he will kill every Jew? Even in Sweden there was a lot of Nazi support. Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden_during_Wo...

Sweden helped the Nazi's MUCH more than the allieds in WW2. They supplied the iron ore used to make the ovens where they burned Jews! Did Greeks do this? Find me one Greek that worked in a concentration camp during WW2. I can find many Germans and Poles.

You keep calling Greece Grease and then you claim to be against racism. That's how stupid you truly are.

Moreover, nearly 13,000 Greek Jews fought alongside the Greek army in WW2.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_J...

Entire villages were killed when Jews were found hidden, and 30 citizens would die for every German soldier that was killed. That doesn't sound like Germany liked Greece or supported them.

Here is an actual photo of the day all the Greek Jews were put on trains to Auschwitz.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons...

Do you see anyone cheering? Find me one. I only see people crying.

When you hate Greeks then you clearly hate Greek Jews so why are you on here defending them in an idiotic way? Germany and Poland as you say have a long history of anti-semitism from the medieval ages. Germanic people (and yes that includes the Swedish) were the most anti-semitic people in Europe even before the holocaust. Tons of books exist on the subject matter written by Jewish historians. Can you find me a single book about anti-semitism in Greece?

You may ask why I write all this. It is because this woman was in my Greek family.

http://www.stljewishlight.com/life_cycle/obit...

When you say Greeks never hid Jews then why is there an article by a Jewish newspaper with one of my Greek relatives in it?

See how wrong you are? Don't bother explaining yourself. I did some research and it turns out you're one of the biggest trolls on topix

http://www.topix.com/forum/news/topix/TITQELI...

According to them you are very racist and have even many anti-semitic comments.

What is wrong with you? Seriously?

I'm a fair guy (as well as being far more intelligent than you) so I tell you what I'm going to do ..... you 2 huddle together and show me just how "stupid you truely are" and how low of "an education" the two of you have, by doing one simple thing: Prove to me (and ton yourselves) that using the word "Polack" is RACIST. Can you manage that? It's "2 against 1" so you have the advantage, right?

FAIR WARNING: Once you've set out to prove me "stupid" and of a "low education" you will find that it is the 2 of you who are ignorant and racists - not me. Now run along and do your worst. Get back to me soon now, ya' hear.

Ps. I know that you have additional issues about Sweden & WWII but I don't think that you can take too much of a beating "all at once" so I'll get back to those questions once you've taken care of this first "problem". Make sure to remind my about that afterwards, in case I forget. OK? Bye-bye till then!

A guy who is far more intelligent than me didn't even bother to read my comment and see my evidence? My entire comment was about the holocaust not Poland for crying out loud.

Also don't ask me why using it is racist. All the Polish people here in Chicago get really offended when someone labels them as that. You live near Poland, fly to Warsaw and call them all Polacks.

There's no need to get back to anything. It's wrong to call people racists and anti-semites because of their ethnicity. It's not only racist in it's self but also condescendingly generalizing.

In addition, how am I a racist? I don't know who this GreekIslander fellow is, but I am no racist. I stated my facts clear and straight and I generalize no one. You came here stating that Greeks hate Jews. If you don't see that as generalizing and stereotyping then I don't know what is. Posting a news article doesn't help. There's countless articles reporting anti-semitism throughout Europe.

What a lie. You are full of the brown stuff right up to your eye-balls.
George wrote:

Fly? I've been by boat, train, and hitch-hiking and I can assure you that "Pollack" is exactly what I call them. You are an idiot who doesn't know shyt from your left eye-patch but you sure like to make things up and pretend you know something. You don't.
George wrote:

Not if it's true, and that's exactly what you are if you consider the word "Pollack" a racist remark. It proves that it is you is a racist.

So that's all you've got? I did warn you that you are treading on thin ice but you came back with a lot of "I don't know". Let's hope that your best buddy Grease Slander can do better than you, huh?

Now ... turn off your computer and take a long walk to think about what a loser you are. Go over to Lou Malnati's Pizzeria (if it's still there) and stuff yourself, get fat, and have a good cry - and if you apologize to me it'll be my treat.
