Ban for five years, do the country need workers or prisoners? The ban will have nil effect on workers because there are many countries in the world which are providing far better oppurtunity and living condition than a small country like qatar

If this news report is true:

Council seeks re-entry ban of five years

Then it's time to vote with our feet and get out of this country.

There are some reasons why they don't want to change the sponsorship law. First, for many reasons. Expats like us can easily outclass our qatari counter-parts in terms of skills & professionalism. That we expats have much more brilliant ideas which in my opinion, the government know that we can bring them down if they cannot control us. If Qatar really wants to be on top of international scenery, they must abolish this sponsorship (slavery) law. I do understand that the want to protect their citizenry but they must protect the interest of their foreign workers who made a lot of contributions to both economy and prosperity of qatar. I hope the government should understand the clear meaning of "human rights"!!!
