Actually, no it is not expensive to rent, at least not in El Gouna. The biggest expense for me is the airfare because I live in the US. We (my fiance and I) rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, living room, kitchen place for $425.00 USD for 7 nights and 8 days. It was really nice! It was on the first floor, right on the beach, a pool and a big veranda.

Yes, my fiance is Egyptian and lives in Egypt. If you trust him, there is nothing to be nervous about. Egypt is perfectly safe and I found the people to be very friendly and kind. The airfare is the most expensive part, I haven't been able to find flights cheaper than 1,000-1,300 depending on when you book your flights. Also, it's a long trip so if you are able you should try to stay at least a couple of weeks. I know it's not easy for most of us here in the US because we don't generally get a lot of vacation time (most if us anyway), but there is so much to see.

Good luck! I hope you love Egypt as much as I did. It really is an amazing vacation and even more amazing when spent with someone you love.

I was just joking.

From what I saw on a show they are sealing many up and restricting access because the interiors are getting worn.

I think but not sure that air flow is also a problem.

Either way the pyramids are fascinating.

I didn't have time, I was only in Cairo for 3 days and then we went to El Gouna which is absolutely beautiful. It's a lot quieter than Cairo and less chaotic and congested. I saw the museum, the pyramids and the castle/mosque. I didn't get to see much the first time I went due to some unrest, but it was still a great time. Everyone should go at least once, the pyramids are amazing!
