True.

False.

To date? There hasn't been a proven case someone killed expressly BECAUSE he/she did NOT believe in god/gods.

Once again, a believer LIES.

But that's only to be expected.... the very act of belief requires lying to one's self first.

But I am sure some one is very proud that it is at least a coherent lie.

There's a difference between a lie and a delusion, and there are no writers in this forum more delusional than Divine Alien. His mind seems to be like one of those sliding number puzzles that is all out of order and only gets worse as he slides the squares around. Put simply, he is so crazy that there is no point in trying to understand him. Why does anyone waste time responding to this jackass?

Do you mean god believers kill others in the name of god(s), and kill those who don't believe in specific god(s)?

Your statement would be accurate phrased as such.

Ordinarily, I ignore the religiroach.

But, that was too good to pass:

The "true" to the first part and "false" to the second.....

...then I had to go and ruin it by explaining....

*sigh*

I too ignore...for the most part.

Screw it, I'll add commentary when he,she,it makes an obviously flawed comment.

"The problem of evil"

I notice that "god" is the main subject DA mentioned.

A slip?

Please decode this post. I, as usual, do not understand your reasoning, or is it just a lack of reason in your posts?

I could not resist posting on this thread. The Jews and atheists killed in Germany were killed justified by a belief in propaganda by the church. Evil is a religious way of marking people for death. The Jews were evil because they caused the death of Jesus. The atheists were killed because they protested against the christian nation of Hitler's take over the German government. These acts were not evil in the eyes of German christians. We do not call this genocide as evil, because that is saying some devil was responsable for these inhuman acts of violence. It was the teaching of the christian church that caused them, not the devil.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as evil per se. I've come to recognize that the word "evil" is just another religious word like "sin" and "salvation," since evil presumes the existence of an entity like Satan or demons.

Evil implies that something inherently malicious exists, something that transcends and afflicts humanity from space or whatever. What exists are just so many psychopaths, sociopaths, other mental illnesses, and unintended misfortunes.

It's just like luck. There is nothing causing what men call luck. It’s just a convenient way to describe a commonplace outcome for a small number of people from among a large crowd, or a small number of outcomes from a large trial. The word falsely imputes to reality some kind of existential, extra-corporeal universal principle that exerts influence on the affairs of men., just like evil, sin and salvation. Nonentities all.

That doesn’t mean that we can’t use the words, because they do describe our impressions and our opinions, and have metaphorical value, like “Cupid’s arrow.” But evil is no more real than luck or Cupid or his arrows.

I agree...

evil is our way of rationalizing the otherwize irrational.

imho,'evil' is a concept that makes it easier to
It makes much sense to me that the concept of evil was meant for witnesses and victims of traumatic events to find closure and thus 'moving on' in their lives.

Back when it originated, much more atrocities occurred more frequently, add in a lower population, more birth deaths etc etc. It was even more important that those who did survive those atrocities were able move on after them.

Now, similarly, it is what many use to forgive others for the less heinous acts.
'The devil made them do it' makes it easier to forgive others of their wrong doing that may not be illegal, but yet hurtful.
It helps a victim not take things personally if they believe the offender was not in control of their actions/words.

So imho, the concept is like a mental crutch, and like the proverbial 'crutch'; while it has served useful for many for some time, I think have also stunted ones abilities to cope with stress.

And I will never do so: you are a proven, racist, religious bigot.

I've no interest in reading your hate-slime words.

I've no interest in trying to understand your hate-slime mind.

I think it quite fortunate that you do not live in my country-- or even on the same continent as I.

You, sir, are a disgrace to the Human Race.

I agree: evil, to be real, requires a human or other self-aware being.

And I also think it's a useful adjective-- most folk attach a seriously negative emotional index to the word.

Thus, it's useful when describing the various gods humans have fashioned after themselves....

Which brings us to Nietzsche's quote of the day:

----
"There is in general good reason to suppose that in several respects the gods could all benefit from instruction by us human beings.

We humans are - more humane."

-Nietzsche
