Your English is very good and you obviously had to become familiar with another alphabet to learn it!

I agree with everything you said. Every ethnic group and nationality has bad representatives and people are sometimes too quick to make assumptions about other groups.

Surprise... from the Greek Alphabet. Did you know Alpha is the first letter and Beta the second in Greek language. Do you get it ALPHA- BET. Sorry to disapoint you but you were the ones who learn Greek. For the Greeks to learn English is like just lifting our nose and play snoby. Oh and forgive my English are a bit Greek.

To be honest Observer, the invasion and the property issue and all related issues should have been left alone and I can bet you, that without all the negotiations, all the wasted talks and promises, all the lies and all the hatred, both communities would have done a good job solving things themselves.
Do you know why I believe that?
I strongly believe that without the thrive of hatred, government's involvement and games, people would have found a way to coexist. People who still had fresh memories of their neighbors and valued their friendships, people who could still communicate with respect, those people would have found a solution among themselves and would have settled the housing dilemma and would have proven to Turkey's presence absolete. The biggest barrier is the hatred and lies told to the new generation that further divide the two communities. Stories changed hands and became fantasies and hatred turned into racism and no solution seems to be feasable. If only the government minded its own business and slept through the whole thing like they did 36 years ago.If theyere not accountable for the problem, they should have been part of the solution. Now, there are more versions and the tragedy has become a science fiction novel. The readers are all young people who are in love with the thrill of crimes and adventure and fake patriotic games. What the old generation had going for them was a stronger love for Cyprus and its people.

Your comments seem kind and sensible if it was not for one vital factor you left behind. Turkey.
Turkey made sure that we were never left alone to work out our problems. What you did not understand is that Turkey invaded Cyprus not to save the Cyprus Turks but for their own political reasons. It is surprising that anyone failed to notice this. The mere fact that more than 60% of the Turkish Cypriots since the invasion left Cyprus for the UK (most of them) must mean something to anyone who uses any kind of logic. Why did they leave their country since they were saved by Turkey? Keep asking this question to yourself and eventually you will realise why. Besides, T/C organisations in the UK and here in Cyprus speak openly about the unfair treatment they get under the Turkish rule. Does that sound like people who were freed and saved by Turkey?
Then, after the T/C's left their country who was there to speak with and work out our differences? They were replaced by Turks from Turkey in large numbers, who were the voice of Turkey and not the voice of T/C's. and the last thing that Turkey wanted was the very same thing that it still persuits i.e. To make sure that the problem is never solved untill she finds the opportunity to control all Cyprus.
All the above are not my own theories. They are facts that can be verified in several ways from many sources but mostly from Turkey's policies from the invasion until today.
Try to be impartial for a moment and face yourself in front of a mirror and then ask yourself that your article above was written impartially and honestly and not because you are a Turk answering some Greek posting in this forum that you could not stomach.

Well, not all your country are thinking the same way. Yes, politicians are responsible for a lot of trouble but everyone is responsible for themselves at the end. 99% Greeks hate Turks. I for one will not turn the other cheek. You are an exception however.
