Madness, people forget that the TRNC is an illegal state, how would you like it if somsone stole your land.
The turks are 100% wrong for being in cyprus (not turkish cypriots), they have violated international laws an insane amount of times, nd not one Country will officially take action, it makes me sick, i thought we were living in the 21st century???
you obviously know nothing about cyprus...turks lost their land too

As an outsider (neither greek or turkish cypriot) I have visited both sides and seen criminal activity on both. The above article has nothing to do with the presidency in TRNC (as someone claimed). The problem is the sanctions against TRNC that creates a perfect breeding ground for organized crime such as the money behind many of the Casinos on the northern side.
The same thing has happened in numerous states that has had the same problem when they are isolated from the world community.
The solution? Simple. Let bygones be bygones and open the borders, no plans with exchanging land and complicate things, since this will only lead to a lot of civil unrest, criminal activity and violence (on both sides). Yes (before someone points out that someones grandfather died for their land), I know that both sides has suffered enormously during the war but lets face it, according to biology their is no race only species and we all belong to the same species and as such we have to try and live in peace.

That is actually a question of dispute. If you take a look at the old documents from the time of the englismen leaving the island, Greece and Turkey was responsable for the security situation on the island and to keep the inhabitants safe. Since the liberation of Cyprus from England, there had been numerous acts of violence and especially from E.O.K.A against the Turkish Cypriots. Turkey did what was written, secured one third of the island (when they could without a problem taken the whole island) for the Turkish Cypriot population, after several cries of help from the Turkish cypriot population.

If you want to, there is actually several books written on the subjects, written by englishmen who where involved in the situation and I have personally talked with Swedish UN soldiers that where there during that time and saw how Turksih Cypriots "disappeared" by EOKA hands. And still, if you wonder, Im neither Turkish or Greek Cypriot, just interested in history and of the wiev that the island population still have to let bygone be bygone and merge to heal as a people.

Sorry to say Stavros, that is not a fact anymore. During the last couple of years the building boom on the north side has done the same thing to the island as the south. Huge hotel complexes and private beaches.......
