We bought a condo in Playa Hermosa mainly for investment purposes witht he idea of renting mostly. Our developer wanted us to pay a very high price for the furniture (we had not choice but to take the appliances he gave us). I decided to furnish it on my own and I started researching furniture companies. I visited your forum and saw some posts on furniture. Any recomendation?

Dear Maria:
You can find a lot of companies selling furniture around Guanacaste, Puntarenas y San Jose. The most reconized ones are in San Jose and also there you can find a big range of prices and styles available. But when you want to decorate your house the best choice is finding an interior design company that can offer everything you need in one place and also because you will only need to deal with one delivery and installation.
When you locate a firm that you like there are important questions to ask:
1.How is the certificated interior designer?
2.Where he or she graduate?
3.Where he or she works before?
4.Do you a portfolio of other projects that I can see?
5.What kind of furniture you have available?
6.Which Brands do you have?
7.Where they built that furniture?
8.What kind of fabrics they use?
9.What is the difference between outdoors or indoors furniture?
10.Do you offer both?
11.What type of wood do you use?
12.And the most important question... Do you have a WARRANTY on your furniture and fabrics?

Right now you can find several companies offering "interior design services" but there are only a few that really know what they are doing. Even little stores without any interior design training are offering furniture packages. And when that kind of people make mistakes they affect the credibility for real interior designers.
I you are looking for a firm check everything I told you before buying anything and if you need help just let me know.
Regards,
Sergio

Hi Maria,

We bought a villa in Playa Hermosa and we found out very soon the shortage of nice furniture stores in the area, in fact they were non-existent. We will be opening a furniture store in Sardinal in approximately 3-4 months and plan to sell quality furniture and home accessories. Are you still in need of furniture? We have contacts in the furniture business that we will be partnering with and I could help you with an order. I can also send you a sample of everything.

hELLO, DO YOU STILL NEED HELP? I am an interior designer, i just signed a contract to assist a developer in the flamingo area with his projects, to design and furnish the interiors of his model, and then to offer furniture packages of quality to his clients since its very difficult to find product and resources for persons on there own. I intend to provide these packages. But can also do individual consultations and supply furnishings and interior design, kitchen design and products.
I only represent quality vendors, with good reputations. i have a long standing reputation and want to keep it.. you can visit my web site www.cmunidesign.com and call me direct. My company is located in Ft. Lauderdale only 2 1/2 hours away from costa rica. i send a crew to install what you buy.. and warranty the product.
thank you hope to talk to you soon.

I have a two bdrm beach front condo just south of Jaco and need all new furniture. I was referred to a designer but she only wnated a budget and to let her do the rest. I'm not comfoatable with that arrangement as I want to see items first and have more control. She did send pictures of her work, it was marginal at best. I am capable of making good selections if i can find the stores. I'll be in San Jose and heard there is a Tommy Bahama showroom there but am unable to locate. Do you know where that or any other quality furniture stores are located? Thanks

Linda,
We live very close to Sardinal and are interested in buying a futon mattress. The last one we owned had wool in the interior of the mattress which was supposed to be good for humid climates. Can you get me a price?
thanks, ann

Hi Linda. I would like to chat with you personally regarding inventory for your new store. I'm originally from Florida. My husband and I have now lived here for a year and I feel confident I can provide a quality "high-end" furniture product line and at least one artist's accessory line, which will further enhance, what I believe to be, the quality which I gather you are evaluating and intend to represent. Please email me at nccsfast@aol.com, so that we can discuss mutual business opportunity outside a public forum.
