Praise For What The US Can Learn From China

“Ann Lee shows us how the United States can also learn much from the country that will soon have the world’s largest economy. Professor Lee foresaw the ‘Great Recession’ two years before it happened; we should all listen to her now as she describes how China and the United States can work together to shape a safer and more prosperous world.”

—Charlie Kolb, President, Committee for Economic Development, and former Deputy Undersecretary, U.S. Department of Education

A country makes a worthwhile discovery. Learn from their discovery.

The same country pursues a path of discovery that leads nowhere. Learn from their mistakes.

So to say that there is nothing to learn from China is a path of ignorance because, regardless of whether you agree with the result, there is always something to learn.

Meanwhile consider these few examples before you say that there is nothing to learn from China..... China has the world’s largest FOREX account. Is this a good thing or a bad thing that can be learnt from? China’s growth rate is in excess of all the leading powers? Is that a good thing or a bad thing to be learnt from? China has not been at war for many years. Is that a good thing or a bad thing to be learnt from? China maintains her national security per citizen at a fraction of the cost of most other leading nations? Is that a good thing or a bad thing to be learnt from? China’s levels of taxation are lower than in so called developed nations. Is that a good thing or a bad thing to be learnt from? China’s investment in green energy is probably the highest in the world. Is that a good thing or a bad thing to be learnt from? China’s population growth has been slowed. Is that a good thing or a bad thing to be learnt from?

Even China is prepared to learn from her own mistakes which is why the same government has been in power for over 60 years. Perhaps there is something to be learnt from that?

If a man stuck their hand in the fire and got burnt then it is possible to learn from this that fire is dangerous but you could also learn that fire is a source of heat and power.

You on the other hand are too stupid to learn anything from this man because it turned out they were Communist.

you on the other hand olde chap should learn some basic's. if it looks like,, feels like,, and tastes like $hit, then it is,
If you had been born in Taiwan and faced the aggression of the commies, and their 1000's of missiles, then you would know that the fire burns,,, it is not there for warmth.
stupidity is living in a shit hole, and telling every one it is paradise, but then,, I suppose you get paid to do that

Not everybody is capable of learning from the mistakes of others for a variety of reasons. Some, like Bill, refuses to acknowledge this simply because he is bigoted even if he is not completely stupid. However, most of us learn best by repeating the mistakes of others. For example, we are told that fire is dangerous but how many of us ignored our mother's advice and were curious enough to burn ourselves? But the potential to learn from our mother's own experience still exists regardless of her political leanings.

Some countries are proactive in warfare. You don't need to be either a victim or aggressive to be on the receiving end of their aggression. China is more in need of stability to sustain the growth she needs for her standards of living to catch up with other countries. Declaring war on your neighbours just because they are a pain in the backside is counter productive to stability and that would potentially result in civil war as discontent became more evident.

I agree that growth rates are not going to go on for ever. However, China's growth rates are taking place at a time of economic recession. There is something to be learnt from this in what their methods are just as there is something to be learnt from the fact that the growth is not sustainable indefinitely and major problems will occur from creating false expectations of continued growth. Good and bad again.

60 years IS long in government. Governments claiming to offer Democracy seldom last more than 4 to 10 years in power. Bill would only see that the longer you remain in power then the more likely you are to be corrupted by that power because I am thinking of the Chinese government, however, it is also possible to observe that continuity of power leads to efficiency, continuity of purpose and stability - pretty well the opposite of a Democratic system. Which offers the better balance depends on one's perspective and an ability to see both good and bad aspects. But at a time of international economic failure China's approach is working for now even though it won’t work indefinitely without modification.

I just provided a list of some of China's attributes all of which have both positive and negative aspects so something to be learned from China in either respect. Are you so insecure and stupid as to believe that it was trumpet blowing on behalf of a political party who almost certainly have no knowledge or interest in my existence? Forget it, consider it a rhetorical question!

The U S might consider out sourcing its prison system to China. The Chinese prison system has a real handle on dealing with criminals.

Do the Chinese have career criminals like the West?

Equally the Chinese have some things that they could learn from the Americans such as improving arrest rates and willingness to prosecute.

Yes China has career criminals but they tend not to continue in that career once they have been found guilty.

So Bill, why is it that over 2,000,000 Taiwanese live on the mainland? Why is the mainland the biggest trade partner of Taiwan province?

Why are YOU running away in New Zealand?

Most of those end up underground in China.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Leo

You're in a very idealistic mood today, making it almost impossible for you to view loved ones in their true colors. If they've got any faults you won't see them because you'll have blanked them out. This rosy vision of your nearest and dearest is fine if it doesn't last long but it will cause problems if it persists and you continue to brush any problems under the carpet.
