You can't ignore that poorer "half", it's too large to be ignored. <quoted text> Botswana ($9,481) and South Africa($8,066) have higher per capita GDPs than Ray's Guangdong($7,787). Also, Guangdong is comparable to Namibia ($5,828) and Angola ($5,144). According to experts, China is a full century behind America on a GDP per-capita basis. Guangdong province is a big place with 100 million people. The city of Shenzhen has 14 million and its per capita GDP is US$ 15,000.

Just look at your provincial GDP list and do the math. Assume 8 % economic growth for interior provinces and urbanization increasing by 1 % of total per year, that means all those provinces from Guangxi on up (85 % of mainland's provinces) will have its urban population (58 %) living in a developed world living standard by 2018, the year China surpasses U.S. as the world's largest economy. Realistically, 8 % economic growth is really conservative for inland provinces. It's more like double digit growth.

I use the term "mostly" with (?) that saying there can not be done by that method because our World today fills with all kind of communications, internet, TV, radio ...etc... so those young Commies can understand who the hell of Communists they are and what is the Freedom for ? Go to the world's largest democracy, India, next door and see how's that working out. 70 % of Indian states have Maoist insurgencies.

RayH wrote: <quoted text> China is on average 51 % urban. Yes, the per capita GDP may look low in many provinces due to the lower average among rural residents (ie. US$ 1,200). Just take the province's per capita GDP and times 1.8, that's the average among the urban half, which would place them on or above the US$ 11,900 per capita GDP for developed countries. Really ray, Youve got to get out of Shenzhen more often. Most of the stuff you say is silly. China has a long way to go. Im afraid youve got to include the whole country, not just the sons of elite or connected who live in Shanghai or Guangzhou. But at the rate the corruption is going things could get ugly. I suggest you worry about your own house not ours.

Guangdong per capita GDP:$7,787 Angola (African nation) per capita GDP:$5,061 Japan per capita GDP:$46,000 America per capita GDP:$48,387 Don't even think of comparing yourself to developed countries like America and Japan. You're better off comparing yourself to African Angola. Your per capita GDPs are similar. God should just cut away Guangdong province and move it into Africa. Chinese will fit right in with the Africans. yearh,$48,387 per capita while Tanzanus making millions per year. Beat you at your own game, you chump!
