Disgusting.

One step forward, two steps back. These kinds of repressions only hinder the economy and growth of a nation.

But these same surveillance techniques are used in the US and in the UK. I have read several places thorughout the last five or six years that one cannot hardly escape public surveillance, being recorded several times wihtin minutes very often.

Shenzhen does have problems with crime and the Chinese people have always throughout history rebelled from time to time- the peasant rebellions, which quite often led to reform.

Stratification yielded by the market economy will have to change within China. Reforms will again have to make it more socialistic in nature for the people to be served. China may, in the ned, prove to be a true model for the world. Actually, its healthcare model in the early 1970s most efficiently served the people, especially the rural population. Yet, that was before market economy.

In the US, the same stratification is happening, too. The rich are getting richer and the poor are increasingly poorer. Protesters are often arrested. Video tapes and closed-circuit surveillance information gathered are admissable evidence.

At least, in Shenzhen, this surveillance has delimited the crime.

The world is a mirror.

But do you see the hypocrisy here?

Somehow the supposedly free nation does the same thing and points at China how much of a tragedy and violation is. Double standards and misperceptions have to stop.

Fear is powerful, especially at the political levels-- lookat the incentives for \homeland Security the uses and abuses, the rights legislated away, etc.

I must also say one thing... there is more freedom in China within the evryday routines, within the sociocentric based society. It is not as it is made to be within the US.

It's hard to explain unless you live it and I lived in a semi-closed village and will be returning there. People are not exclaiming they are religious, yet they do religious things and hold religious beliefs. They talk about politics and disagree, etc. It really isn't much different except that the current atmosphere within the US labels people as terrorists for voicing such views, for mentioning certain words or checking out certain books in the library, etc.

No, if you take the faces off the governments and places on the map, which place is which?

Better for you to remain in the "great" America to correct or complaint to your own government.
