well, one solution is open border with U.S., another is to put barriers to cheap imports of foreign goods, so as to protect local industries.

Canada is the only country in the world (the other may be Australia to a lesser extent), who has a very active immigration system. Most of the other countries in the world don't have any similar immigration systems.

the Canadian society is full of conflicts and inner pains, covered up by some superficial good natural scenery. other countries without active immigration are also doing very good. like Japan, Sweden and many others.

therefore, Canada doesn't need immigration. a zero immigration level is desirable. which means the shut-down of this current immigration system.

Labor shortage? open border with U.S. will fill up any claimed shortage.

money from Chinese 'investors'? that money is not always doing good to society. high property prices are preventing people from having a good life in Vancouver etc. and those Chinese 'investor' immigrants don't really like life in Canada too. they either don't speak any English or need to tend to business back in China, many big houses in Vancouver bought or built by such 'investors' are actually empty.

it simply doesn't work. only creating many pains for many people.
