A staff report received by the Region's health and social services committee at its meeting last week explains a suitable provider wasn't found in the request for proposal stage.
Earlier, regional council had approved allocating $300,000 for a family counselling program for individuals and families receiving social assistance and low-income supports.
This was deemed necessary because of an increase in post-traumatic stress disorder, concurrent disorders (addiction and mental health issues) and violence within this population, combined with a lack of community resources.
