Over the past thirty years, Cambodian people has suffered a lot.
Cambodian people should dedicate themselves to fight for basic freedom and true democracy that they hope to get in the future and to build cambodia with respect to the rule of law, basic human right as well as to unite all classes of Cambodian people for the better future for their young generation.

Do you think that a broken glass of water can become a glass of good condition after it is fixed by somebody?

A broken glass of water can be fixed to become a good condition by the high and special technology and expert. Atcually, the War Torn Country in Cambodia will probably not compare with the seek of its democracy. Cambodians believe that they can search their democracy in the future. The worst and dictatored government will never last forever.

To re-plant a tree that been taken out from its roots will need a special care of its root. Now day Cambodia have no root no rule and people have no manner! Everyone cut and kill each other for a basic everyday living. If not they will never servived. Just look at it this way. Economice will move by itself, its basic because everyone need to servived. And that what the goverment think that if he do nothing it will move. But for this point there is no one to blame since the goverment is the only person that would care about his country, ofcause every family leader want there family memeber to become batter but he can't do all that by himself. Goverment need to rethink about what he doing because for the last 10 years Cambodia have been moving really slow. Whice already show the result of his work hasn't been improved.

History of Cambodia in the last few decades has not been great. We Khmer have realized the destruction of war. Cambodia was one of the collateral damage of the Vietnam War. Cambodia chose to be nuetral, regardless, it was sucked into it and the outcome was Pol Pot and 2 millions lives killed. It was a disgrace, humiliation, and regret we had to endure. It was a curse. We know what had happened to us. We are capable of building one of the world greatest structure in the world, yet incapable of loving one another and that was why we killed each other because we don't know how to love and appreciate ourselves. The outside forces maybe strong, but if we stood together, we would be stronger, nothing should have broken us apart. Our ancestors who had built many temple, aquaduct, and canals would found us disgraceful.

The past is gone, the future is coming. What we as Khmer suppose to do to enlight ourselves to never repeat another Pol Pot? Many of us living in the western countries had an opportunity to better ourselves through education and social understanding. We should take advantage of this in ways that will benefit Khmer and Cambodia, whether business or social service endeavor. We were the most developing country in Southeast Asia after the French left, and the greatest empire in Southeast Asia for hundreds of years or longer, what happened to us? I have good hope for the future of Cambodia, we will put and glue back all the broken pieces, keep an eye on it as a reminder to never allowed it fall again. That should be every Khmer's anywhere hopes and dreams.

The people followed the political parties died for nothing. When something happened the party leader gave up the people and fled cambodia. Only the suffering of the people. The party leaders shake hands without thinking the death of people who died for them.
Cambodian people do not want such leader because they did not think of the national interest. on the contrary, they think only their own party and their own interest. They are really a demagogue by saying that they work for the nation and people.

Khmer civilization had been reduced to its lowest form from failure of leaderships, war, and opportunist neighbors. We should have every right to be bitter and distrustful.

Khmer now enter a new era. Most of what are left from the empire should be greatly be chaished by all khmer anywhere. We should be very thankful for what have after those misfortune events in our history. We are still Khmer. Angkor is still standing tall, strong, and proud throughout the turmoils.

We must make the best of what are left. Restore the art, culture, religion, language, tradition, and temples whick are our landmarks. These will honor our fallen Khmers who had sacrificed their lives for us. We must open our hearts and minds for adaptation of the ever changing world. We must make friends foreign and domestic, instead of enemies. We must know how to be self consciencious for self improvement. Sometime our honor and pride permitted us from doing so.

Khmer territoty is now only about 30% since original. We must not let it get any smaller, not even an inch. Any foreign invader dare to encroach on the territory should be an honor for all Khmers anywhere to unite to push and destroy the invaders at any mean and any cost. At the same, we also must not be an invader.

The past had taught us many great lessons. The great Roman Empire fell and crumbled to dust due to their evilness and greed. It was also greed that play a part of the downfall of Khmer Empire. It was curse being casted by god. Just as the Khmer Rouge organization that's no longer exist because of their evilness and greed, so will the nations that attempted to destroy Khmer, only time will tell. God and our ancestral spirits will guide and guard Cambodia and its people to a brighter future. LONG LIVE KHMER...

Hey Cham, could you pass on the news regarding the voting to as many people as you could, especially to any Cambodian Chat Rooms or Message Boards. If Angkor is picked as one of the new7wonders, it is going to be so awsome for Cambodia.

Thanks,
Sovanna Phum

The road to democracy is like taking the road from sihanoukvill to kompot. There's gonna be bumps, unpaved road and lots of rocks along the way. But once there, the beauty of it, was worth the ride.

You can not get democracy if the leaders don't allow you to do with human rights violation and no freedom of expression. for example, human activists were arrested and nobody can help although there were many criticized from other countries. all these countries can not interfere into Cambodia's internal affairs.
So if the prime minister did not release human right actvists. How can you promote

I wholeheartedly agree with you Bakhang. I there was this one Khmer oldies song that mentioned Kampuchea as senior nation in Southeast Asia or Indochina for that matter. Cambodia should live up to its name if it wishes to receive credibility and respect. It's up to all Khmer anywhere to represent themselves in a positive manner that will not seem arrogance, overconfident, or cocky. Khmer are known for respectful, generousity, friendly, and a few other things, so keep that in mind Khmer.

In order for cambodia to be independent and that no could invade, Cambodia has to be strong economically and militarily. Or at least with the ability to defend ourselves at any time needed. Rightnow we are weak in both and hopefully sometimes in the future we can be like that gain--strong and properous. We should try to help whatever we can... education, agriculture, industry, medicine etc... anything that can improve the lives of our people... introduce technology that can better the lives of the people...

Cambodia has never been independent.

That is, ruled by the people, for the people and of the people.

Therefor, Cambodia has never experience true democracy.
Where there is balance in the government and the people.

Look at past Ruler, dictator, regiem, invaders, occupier of Cambodia. We've never had someone like Gandhi or MLK or Lincoln ?
