In the beginning of 1800s or even before that, Vietnam territory only came to what it is central vietnam now. And from central vn to outskirt of Hochiminh city now, was belonged to Champa. Then roughly from Hochiminh city to the end of VN now, including Delta regions, belonged to Khmer. The same thing with Siemriep and Battambang belonged to Thailand and under Thailand rule. Thanks to French colonist with powerful Armforces, which colonized the whole Indochina on top of wars between Siamese and Vietnamese IN CAMBODIA, Khmer people could claim Siemriep and Battambang belong to Cambodia. Don't you forget, ALL the original maps of INDOCHINA(vietnam, Lao, Cambodia) was drawn by French authority. All I can see in the old days, the powerful ones got what they want. |

Why Thai not try to claim Preah Vihear during the Khmer Rouge regime or during the Vietnamese troop occupied in Cambodia. Are you (Thai) a scary cat? Thai couldn't face Viet Troops when Viet stationed at Preah Vihear, because they knew they can not beat the Mighty Armforces of Indochina. One more thing, when I was at Preah Vihear, there was no acess from Cambodian side, unless you have to climb rocks like.....monkeys. Later he became king, and then he brought more Indian men who specialize in temple building. They (Indian specialize and Khmer people) start building temple and the knowledge pass down from generation to generation.
