1 Right on, BluzLady. The US govt. has a fondness for rebuilding other countries, and collapsed bridges here at home when doing so suits corporate agendas. America should always come first. American dollars for America and Americans first. When all of our cities are rebuilt and their infrastructures updated, and when all of our hungry children are consistently fed and educated, maybe we could give to the rest of the world. |

1 So do you think we should invade, kill their leaders and try to put their country back on its feet? F*ck 'em. I've had enough. If we never sent another US$ outside our own borders again, I'd be fine with it. |

1 "WAIT 22% of the U.N's funding comes from the U.S. and I bet most of the food was donated by us also. So your still taking aid from us." It's too bad that the people of Myanmar are to ignorant to understand this fact. Besides, the majority of U.S. citizens are very tired of seeing their tax dollars handed out to ungrateful foreigners. |

1 Not just for the charity, either. It just appalls me that we offer aid to people who need it and these busybody bureaucrats have an attitude about it. I love the idea of thumbing our noses at these lowlife scumbags without actually being aggressive. "Hey, we're just trying to help, ya know..." (Although, of course, it may simply not be possible. I don't actually know anything about the terrain in *Burma*.) |

1 God bless you and your great kids, Disabled Senior. It's a sick, twisted logic that governs decisions in our government. At the same time it bitches and moans over social security funds being strained, it sends millions of dollars around the world to people who don't want it, or who take it and laugh. Not to mention the trillions of dollars our government and the CIA have spent over the years to bring war, chaos and death to other countries so American "interests" (read corporate profits) could flourish unhindered. I wish you more than mere survival. Prosper and share all that you've learned in life with your family. |

1 You know, I never really minded sharing our surplus with other countries. Even when we shipped most of our wheat surplus each year to Russia during the times that country aimed it's nukes our way. I didn't mind because the people--the real people--of the country needed to eat, and why let the wheat rot? It didn't matter if the Russian people knew where it came from, so long as they survived. They're humans. Now? Where does that surplus go? Our food prices are rising for whatever reason they think up to tell us. WE need our surplus. We're humans. The US grows enough corn to feed us and several countries, AND make ethanol. Shortage? That's a load of crap. I say we should irrigate some desert land and grow kudzu vine for ethanol. Lord, we'd have more than we'd need, considering how that stuff grows. We should keep our own food prices within reason with our own surplus food. We should keep our tax dollars in AMERICA for AMERICANS first. After OUR country is taken care of--and I mean EVERY American man, woman and child and dog and cat, etc.--then we can look at the rest of the world and see if we have anything left to give. It's time to stop corporations and bankers from using our taxes as their own private funds for war and expansion, and from using the American people as their private slaves and mercenaries. |

You might cork your own backside, chum, and read up on FEMA. It matters not what a city was like. If we can rebuild the cities of our enemies, why in heaven can't we rebuild the cities on our own soil for our own people? |

1 You have NO CLUE as the amount of work being done to restore the Gulf Coast. A lot of it is volunteer work and the govt has spent many dollars trying to improve the area. For some reason New Orleans got all the attention while other areas were hit much worse by the hurricane and are still struggling to rebuild. Quite a number of these people that received govt checks decided to spend it on luxury cars and clothes rather than put the funds toward rebuilding their homes. How can you help people that have their priorties out of order? |

Take what we wish to donate to countries surrounding the area, that will get the food to the people. We don't need to be in country to help--if our true intention is to help--even if their leadership hates us. They may have good reason as our invasion of Iraq proves--for just one instance.
Their leadership could be just as bad, but helping starving people is what it's about. Many people think charitable works need not be told of whence they came. |

1 The United Nations is not only in the United States but as a United Nations cannot disclude the United States. Nice try fella's. Aint gonna happen. Best options for emergency meeting and United Nations full press with any avaiable member Nations contribution for aid. 2. China will have to blink..... Olympics showcase which for them to block a vote would show the world thier agenda. See first post on other thread for other options. |
