Bulgarian Medics in Libya "In Grave Psychic Condition"

Bulgaria and Libya have been friends for a many ,many years.
We all need to put an end to this tragedy.We all have to move on.
There are still many bulgarian medics who still work in Libya and are looking after the libyan people.
The nurses are been held for something they haven't done.They also have children and this children are growing up without there mothers.
I only ask WHY?
God help them and the libyan children aswell.
Please, find solution before is too late for everybody!
God help LIBYA AND BULGARIA.

What crime are they charged with? This is not clear from the article. Can you give links to more articles about this?

They are charged with infecting 430 children with AIDS.
They have been raped in the prison,tortured with electrical chocs,they have been beaten, and I don't know how are they still alive.Kaddafi wants 4 500 000 000 to relise them.

I think they shuld be staying in the prison untill we find a soluation for the children then we can talk about them we have to respect the libyan pepole

Gadaffi is a lunatic who does not want to admit that the health care system in Libya sucks (not that the Bulgarian is much better) and blames all his problems on foreigners because it is easier, plus he can make some money out of his own screw up.
Because of him 450 children are dying everyday and innocent medics are getting old in jail.

I think Gadaffi dosen't the man you think befor you tallk about him you should know him first and the health care system in Libya is best in africa and I think is better then your contry and libya dosen't need mony from Bulgaria or other becouse libya is rech contry , and I want to ask you why you care about the Bulgarian medics and don't care about our cheldren they are dying everyday with them familes , this is not fair but I know why because you are !!!!!!!!!

I think this whole case is outrageous. It is unbellievable what Lybia is doing and even though I have sympathy for the children I can't stand what is being done to the bulgarian medics. I also wanted to mention that this trial is taking way too long and it just goes to show how ingust muslims are and incapable of taking the blame for something they have created.

You are so right, dear Figo pasten, from
Tripoli, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. No one who has posted a comment here knows anything at all about Libya: not about its free health care system for all Libyans, not about free of charge schools and university (by the way very good ones) for all Libyans, the free of charge living in apartments without paying rent, the free beach houses for the Libyans in the summer, and I could go on and on.
But this is mostly the failure of the western press which keeps especially the Americans in the dark about everything that is going on outside the US. The poor Americans just don't have a clue what's going on outside their country.

Contamination of hundreds of children is a tragedy. I appeal to our Bulgarian and Arab friends, posting here, to face the reality:
- These medics were part of the Lybian medical system; they got Lybian permits to work; they followed Lybian standard operational procedures (SOP) in the hospital in Bengazi; in this respect Lybian government is partly responsible for everything they do;
- Making medical mistake, even under pressure coming from superiors to short-cut procedures, is still a mistake and people doing it should be held accountable for; being a simple 'medic' doesn't reduce the responsibility for doing wrong to someone. In Bulgaria it is the state that takes responsibilty for all medical mistakes, but in the world this isn't always the case.
To sum-up, this tragedy was possible because of the structure (medical system) and the agency (doctors); any attempt to put the blame on only one of these parts is immoral.

Can anyone tell me where I can find more info on the accusations of the medics and their alleged infecting of the Libyan children? What proof suggests that they did this?

I think Libya is a Muslim country that belongs to the middle ages and Kadafi is proven to be a bigger terrorist that Sadam. Only a crusade is something that they will really respect (call it liberation as the war in Iraq if you prefer). Not the diplomatic efforts from a small east European country like Bulgaria. I think our government should have reacted in a more serious way and required veto from the European Union against Libya.

look BULGARIAN NURSES DESERVE IT im sorry to say that but they do look at those poor children all then infected with AIDS imagine if that was u in their place and i wanted the medics set free how would u feel they r gonna stay infected cuz of STUPID MEDICS!!!

Well I agree that every crime deserves an adequate punishment, but all international experts say that the infection was there before the Bulgarian medics even started working in Libya. Do you approve torturing and maybe killing somebody for something he didn’t do? Who actually believes the ridiculous Libyan courts or the terrorist Kadafi, except the victims who obviously just want blood and money for their children?
