""Aside from the oil in the Campos basin, the pollution is lowering the animals' immunity, leaving them vulnerable to funguses and bacteria that attack their lungs," Pimenta said, quoting biologists who work with him."
It's "fungi" not "funguses" pimento-brain.

Will there be a March of the Penguins Part Deux to support the research for these or will the NOAA use their grants to study ocean temperatures and tides patterns?

Hey "jim" try doing some research before you put your foot in your virtual mouth. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/funguses

I guess you were the guy in the mine that said, "Oh don't worry about that canary that died. Canaries die like everything else.", right before the explosion that killed everyone.

Humans suck. Everywhere you go you see trash. Biggest low life species to ever inhabit this earth. Its only a matter of time before mother earth evolves something to get rid of us.

You can tell this to all those that claim unintelligent design,
"Plants, animals, insects, bacteria, fungi and funguses, and others all balance this planet out. None takes too much, because sustainability is key. Now look at humans. Even though we are animals, everything we touch we destroy. We manipulate our environment to suit our needs at the expense of those biological creatures that get in our way. Wherever we tread extinction and ecological devastation follows. While we struggle to deal with our brash incompetence, our seas are overfished, our cropland is being diminished to make way for more parasitic humans, and natural disasters are exponentially worse than they were in the past because a lot more humans are now in the way. You combine that with a desert dogma that encourages unbridled population growth and you have present day America. If you like what you see, go to church, don't buy condoms (heaven forbid you should tell your children about sex, they might try a position you are afraid of) continue to keep your head in the sand, and one day you can read about penguins, and polar bears, and eventually the rain forests and the Redwood Forest.

Where are all the predators when you need them? Aren't there predators that feed on the penguins? Sounds to me the wrong set of circumstances are blamed in thus case.

Do you know that some penguin species have declined 30% in recent years?

When everything else is extinct, you'll taste like chicken too.

Bon Appetit!!
