Botswana is brilliant. They must have taken a good look at tourist meccas where mega-strength tourism has wrecked a place, and decided to keep their numbers down if prices had to stay up. So when you do get there, and you pay quite a bit, you get everything you came for. The game is wondrous, the lodges are comfy, the landscapes are beautiful, and the people are nice. What more do you need? I'm from California and of the 4 major times I've been on safari, Botswana is unforgettable. So, by the way, is South Africa.

Also, give Zambia a shot sometime.

You can do the Vic Falls from the Zambia side. the site is just as beautiful as the Zim one.
It would be even nicer if you drive from Livingstone through to Botswana; crossing the Zambezi River in a pontoon into Botswana at the Kazungula boarder is a priceless experience; This is actually where the 4 countries; Namibia, Zim, Zambia and Botswana meet....quite interesting. Inside Botswana you get to drive through a beautiful game park, and if you aren’t lucky enough you’ll only get to see 4 of the big fives and several other animals. There are many interesting places to visit in Botswana; the white-hot Kalahari Desert, the Okavango Delta which is the world's biggest inland delta. Other parks include Moremi, Khutse, Mokololi Game Reserves and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park which also cuts through into the Northern Cape Province of South Africa….beautiful!!! |
