Something must have happened.....excuse me if Im reading too much into it....but it seems large chunks of western culture and understanding is based on the existance of Jesus....am I wrong?

Read Cosmology, syngularity theories and astrophysics,,,,,we are all alone, a species, happened to exist by chance. There is no God out, if there, but only our imagination and need for such a being in a vast infinite universe of billions of galaxies. There is no God, only chances, but I am sure there are plenty of other planets with life and civilizations like ours out there in the universe.

all i have to say is that everyone has there rights to what they believe in and if you dont believe that jesus is the son of god then hurray for you and if you do than horray for you too! if you look at the book TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, there is a certain line that is the answer to all the conflict in the world about religion. as for me, i believe in jesus and that he is the son of god .. it really all comes down to faith and evidence ..... what youR conflict is is that 'but there is so much evidence and proof that jesus is not the son of god' and then there is 'but there is o much proof that he is !' it is amazing to see what the world has become and all i can say is that im going to believe in god because of all the wonderful things he has done for me....(and you are probably thinking 'how do you know its not just luck or just coincidences?') well the answer to that is because i have experienced god speak to me and reveal himself to me in such amazing ways and i have seen people get healed in the name of Jesus Christ !

At the risk of making your "auric" condition over excited again.....please give me one shred of scientific fact that the Tilma of Guadalupe is some sort of hoax.....all scientists totaly agree that it was not made by human hands,,,caused a lot of conversions amoungst scientists. They were still scientists after conversion to christ....infact science is full of great people who love Jesus and are awe inspired by the beauty of Gods creation.....as for the Aztec indians in the 1500s when the Tilma was imprinted; over 20,000 a year were being sacrificed to pagan gods....within a few years of Our Ladys appearance many millions of conversions to Christianity put a stop to this practice. All because of the Tima of a simple native pesant St Juan Diego,,,,it is typical for Holy Mary to make great changes through humble things....a reflection of her own humility. maybe I should pray that she pops in to visit you....soinds like you need her at the moment

blah, blah, blah. as you know or should know, it is impossible to prove a negative subjective statement. nice try, but it's nothing but sophistry. just because scientists are christians is no evidence that jesus existed.

what evidence do you have the jesus existed? bear in mind that none of the anonymous writers of the 'gospels' knew jesus first hand. it was all hearsay.

I believe in modern medicine as I was a paramedic for 20 years
I got attacked while I was working and recieved severe brain damage which resulted in blindness. My sight was restore at a church when I went to pray for the first time in years.
If you don't believe in a loving God good luck to you (you need it)....what is left....just a pointless life built on things that don't last .....I am now more happy than ever since I discovered the beauty of Faith.....Jesus exists all right....not only that is still living and amongst us.

No one questions the value of religion for man and for society, actually religion is good for society and man because it promotes goodness, and like you say, it MAKES US FEEL SAFE AND GOOOD. Beyond these, religion has no value except to reinforce customs, traditions, lithurgy etc. Scientifically speaking,anthropologically speaking, and psychologically speaking, religion has been studied from the stand point of man, man himself as he is the maker of religion and God. Man makes religion or religions and man himself has been doing it for thousands of years since the cave dwellers up to the preachers in a pentecostal church hadling snakes. Certainly,no one is saying that religion is bad, what I am saying is that to teach people that they need prayers instead of going to the doctor or use medical science to heal themselves, is wrong as it will only fasten their death. I have never heard or seen any accredited and licenced physician in any country claim or ascertain ( undless a charlattan) to medical miracles. It just does not happen. Show me a paraplegic who has been healed to walk at a church without the help of any doctor or medicine. There is none, we always rely on medicine in some way or another. What you hear sometimes is people waking up from comma after a long time, etc, the body is complex and still it can take a lot and rewire itself given the conditions,or what we might call placebo effect which is close to the SHAMMAN effect which magic healers practice is that they cause a placebo effect. I recommend you to read a Book written by Harvard Medical School doctors on tHE SHAMMAN EFFECT and how some people respond to placebo drugs and shammans. As far as your ascertion that people are afraid to die, some people are probably afraid because they have not studied or are ignorant of the many aspects of science or astrophysics, and thus think something is out there. But again I think most people who are afraid of dying are people who do not understand the world, man or the universe. Actually scientists will tell you when you are asleep, you are half dead. Keep up with your religious values, just PLEASE DON'T go telling people that they do not need a doctor or go to the hospital when they get sick, and that they will be healed with prayers to statue or a spiritial being, with that I have a big problem.

Fine if you don't belive Jesus is God, but to deny Jesus as a physical man existed is another proof of your ignorance. Do a little reserach and check Roman and other non-christian manuscripts.
