I am a Trinidadian who has recently earned a degree in Business Management. It is likely that I will be working in Barbados soon. Can anyone advise me of what I should expect in terms of the cost of living and salaries.

Thank you.

Jah Gol,

You left out some pertinent information like title, entry level position, working in government or private sector.

Its a Graduate Internship at one of the banks.I don't want to name it but I will say that it has branches throughout CARICOM Its supposed to involve exposure to management and leadership.

The private sector pays much more than government. I'm quite certain you will be able to afford rent, pay utilities, buy food and have money left over. Good luck.

I am a qualified lawyer who is planning to relocate to Barbados. I redcently qualified to practice there but had to return to the UK to sort out some business. Can anyone provide me with info on what I can expect in terms of salaries in the private or government sector and what are the best law firms in Barbados.

Thank you.

I assume that you are Bajan - otherwise forget it there are more lawyers here than naywhere else I've ever been so a work permit would not be possible.

Salary levels here are in the B$35-65,000 range for new lawyers (depending upon whether you are working for a relative or not!!)

Hi Ebbie

Thanks for responding. Yes, I am a Barbadian so there is no need for me to get a work permit. Are the salaries you quoted considered to be good salaries in Barbados. Are you a lawyer? If so, may I ask what area of law do you practice and do you know what the top firms are in Barbados.

Thanks

Hi there, I am applying for a post in Barbados but the wage is quoted as Barbados Dollar 18,537.3 - 26,151.1 (USD9,176.88-12,946.08). Is this enough to live on though (i.e. rent a modest room/ live fairly modestly but with some treats! I am single with no dependents or significant expense?)? Thank you in advance for your help!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
