Don't worry. Once the penny drops masses of Americans will get off of their azzes and make a conserted "stink & holler" to bring down the idiocy of your government, in the same way you did to stop the Vietnam war. Patience.
It's our fault, really. It was enourmous European protest against the Vietnam war that brought Americans on board "with us" - and the rest is history. So far, we haven't made enough protest against the American madness of today. Why not? Hell if I know!
All those soldiers who died in Vietnam and for what? Now Afghanistan - I don't understand why our Australian government follows America into pointless wars, which in reality becomes warfare against innocent civilians.

Enormous sums of money changing hands and obscure, war-investment returns? To a select few, of course.

Yes, for some war is profitable and it's sold to the public in terms of ousting dictators and creating democracy but all I see on the news are innocent people suffering.

We SAVED more European and Allied lives than Americans TOOK during WWII. Both jobs had to be done so stop crying, you silly twit.
<quoted text>
So do we:
* America’s CONVICTION was that Irak had thousands upon thousands of WMD’s.
Sweden’s CONVICTION was that there were no WMD’s.
WE WERE RIGHT YOU WERE WRONG.
* America’s CONVICTION was to illegally invaded and occupy Irak, to kill a million innocent men, women, and children, and to torture innocent people in Abu Graib and Guantanamo.
Sweden’s CONVICTION was to follow the UN recomendation to seek diplomatic solutions to the problem with Irak.
WE WERE RIGHT YOU WERE WRONG
<quoted text>
No you don’t. You DESTROY for you way of life.
<quoted text>
Says you.
<quoted text>
Our Viking ancestors are part of our HISTORY. We are civilized today. We haven’t been to war (as a nation) since we fought against Napolean. We are proud of that. However, Swedes, as individuals, have fought in every war that has come down the pike. I myself, was a volunteer for the American Army and I served in the Vietnam war during the mid-60's. Every one of my countrymen who fights in foreign wars are VOLUNTEERS. That is not even in YOUR definition of “cowardess”, you stupid cow.
BS, you........in Vietnam/? What unit? Where?

We could very well have let Japan head south. But Coral Sea put a stop to that. Afghanistan (Taliban) were harboring the terroist groups and allowing them to train there.

2.5 million women who have been educated since the arrival of the Americans and the chasing out of the Taliban would highly disagree with you.

THIS was unconscionalble.

Taliban atrocities (some)

The "castration" of the former Afghan president, Najibullah in 1996. The Taliban "dragged his body behind a jeep for several rounds of the palace and then shot him dead".

· The 1998 massacre of 600 Uzbeks in the province of Faryab. "Western aid workers... said civilians were dragged from their homes, lined up and shot."

· After the capture of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998 the Taliban indulged in the "frenzied killing of shop owners, cart pullers, women and children shoppers". Women and girls were raped, and 2,000-5,000 civilians, mainly ethnic Hazaras, were massacred.

· The public execution in Yakaolang of at least 170 civilians, mainly from humanitarian organisations. "According to Amnesty International, eyewitnesses reported the deliberate killing of dozens of civilians hiding in a mosque."

Other reports include accounts from refugees and human rights groups of the beating of infants, killing of children and hanging of bodies from lampposts.

I agree with improving the lives of women in Afghanistan, they are subjected to a restrictive and cruel culture - do you think war was the only way to achieve this?

I said that politicians are unconscionable - why is that hypocritical? Politicians act for their own agendas - not altruistic motives - do you believe politicians have never been responsible for acts of brutality?

LOL let the Japanese head south. After the USA broke their trade treaty with Japan the Japanese did head south. There was no option. They had to try and reach the Nazis using steam through SE Asia railroads they hoped to build. McArthur ran tail from the Stronghold of the Phillipines to the safe haven of Australia. Why did the USA break it's trade treaty with the Japanese war machine who had been supplied by American business and capitalists. Well, shipping was limited and there was more money to be made in Europe.

The Taliban were harboring and allowing al queda to train there, period. They were offered the chance to turn them over and refused. Therefore, they were kicked out and a more democratic regime established.

America quit supplying Japan due to it's aggresviness in China and elsewhere. FDR ignored the warning signs of an attack. Simple really!

Why then start an illegitimate war which hasn't worked as planned when the CIA could have gone in as they normally do and swept the joint clean of all trace of these people .
Not democratic regime but just another war lord in the eyes of Afghans
