The surge in refugees coincided with the invasion.
The shock and owe operation is really crime against humanity. Schools, hospitals, villages were destroyed. Money pledged for rebuilding never came. They went to the consultants and corrupt official prop up by CIA.
Years gone by so people took risk to go to Australia.

The taliban are lunatics they take sharia law to another level, and how many countries do they pass when they travel to the other side of the world to get here? smells like country shopping to me. A few months back a boat came from China but realised they would be in detention too long so continued on to NZ as it es easier to get into Aus once you are accepted into NZ

There are lots of poor people in Indonesia and East Timor but they don't risk the boat journey to go to Australia. I think the threshold for someone to risk the dangerous boat journey is pretty high.
Why do they choose Australia?
I think Australia has the best standard of living for someone with little skill.
