Buddhist temple an undesirable neighbor in Melbourne suburb

Full story: Tricycle

There was some controversy over a Kwan Yin statue at a Buddhist temple in Utica, New York, but apparently Buddhist temples aren't the most desirable neighbors all over the globe.

so what I like buddhist temples as well.I like the peaceful atmosphere and the devotion of monks towards a goodness and the precepts of buddhas which are ethical in nature. Any religion that teches men and women to be better more decent human beings is a force of good and should be supported by the community.. I like this intention in people of all religions, there are good people to be found in all religions including Islam. thsie who seek bad will find bad.
Ive mingled with christians ,mormons, muslims, hindus, muslims, judaists, spirit ualists, buddhists, tibetan buddhists etc and I can think of some good people I saw in all those minglings and I was respected by people in all those religions as w ell. whereas a man or women who goes looking for trouble at these religions will surely find it as well. and religous intolerance breeds all soughts of hates and evils as history shows.

buddhism is a force of good, when followed correctly it changed one of the most blood thirtsy bunch of killers the mongols and has produced some superior men and woman of virtue and devotion to ethical behaviour.

the world has many religions get used to it.

Nah bulldoze all churches and send christians, jews, muslims and all religious wankers back to their origins, the primitive past.

But I do agree, this country it is becoming more and more like a christian country. Ecologically destroyed, suppression of freedoms, unfettered immigration of god nutters, growing sexual and child abuse, increasing crime, increasing poverty, collapsing infrastructure and services, elitism and dying cities.

Yep a true reflection of christian controlled countries around the planet.

One quixkly forget how wars are started and it's all over religion It goes so far back to the Romans and the Middle Ages. It's still being raged to this day (Radical Islam comes to mind).

Now I have no problem with a temple so what's the difference when the Bosnians painted the old church on Court Street?

The only thing I'm against is a mosque built near Ground Zero.

Given buddhist monks spend their time meditating in silence I hardly think the neighbours could complain about the noise.

Unlike the god fearing christian holier than thou USA which wiped out native Americans and their food stocks, we still have our culture intact in many places, in spite of the christian scums attempts to commit genocide as they do everywhere else. Thanks to the non religious Europeans who tried to protect indigenous from the marauding blood frenzied christian slime.

Have you ever seen the bells, gongs and prayer wheels they use, they make a hell of a racket and it's all bullshit. Buddhism was once a caring life approach, now it's just a bullshit religion filled with egotistical empty headed dick heads.

Let people practice whatever religion they want to!! What's it to you?? I was raised Catholic and I totally agree with Buddhist philosophies! They are very peaceful (true Buddhists). The world could certainly use more compassionate people.

Just as the US was the destination for hundreds of thousands of convicts. The British colony in America received transported convicts from the UK from 1620s until the American Revolution (double the period of the Australian colonies).

btw, what happened to the Native American culture again?

You may have come from the same stock, but not I. There was no god cult in the indigenous side of my family and in the lesser European side, after their arrival in Tas in the 1800's. It was only when the churches decided to take us from family and torture us in their schools and homes, that I was introduced to the sordid bullshit and torture of the god cult.

Just WHY is this thread on the Utica Topix site? Is this some perverted attempt to somehow bash our Buddist neighbors on Riverside Dr?

If so, Knock it Off! They haven't bothered anyone in the neighborhood!

Catholicism has been used in much the same way Islam has through the centuries. To do evil..lots of it! Bhuddism is vurtually incapable of allowing anything like what Islam and Catholicism has facilitated in their names as religions. I'm not a religious person, but Bhuddism is possibly the only religion left that has no blood on it's hands.

But this is about a temple. How much noise can they possibly make?

Daily Horoscope for February 12

Leo

Be proactive today. Do something different: go somewhere new, change your take on life a little. There's no use just sitting back waiting for excitement and adventure to fall into your lap, or be brought to you on a silver platter. Your part of the bargain doesn't have to be monumental... just a walk down a side street you normally ignore could find you discovering a new shop or cafe, or a person of an enthralling demeanor. Stride out and meet life full on.
