Don't forget every turd skinned Indian in this country & all their descendants have zero chance of ever winning an Olypic gold, we have filled this country with overseas trash in the last few years, that decreases our chances of medals.

we've become a bunch of soft(0cks.

we've taken competitiveness out of sport and now we find sport participation dropping. There are schools now who award results on participation & supporting/cheering & not on race results. Many schools don't do field sports any more. Competitive interschool sports is non-existent. Soft(0cks. Sport is becoming Elitist. How many kids don't play sport because their parents can't afford the $250+ every year.

We need to re-introduce competitive sports from young age. Even in kindy. And allow pathways all through schooling including Uni. This will take 2 or 3 Olympics to show results. And f*ck spending $600m on a tiny elite sporting group when we can be much stronger & competitive by spreading that money from the bottom up.

Australia time for a slice of humble pie.
I agree, it seems as though we have become complacent about our sporting prowess - expecting and assuming our athletes would bring home the gold. The athletes themselves have tried their best and of course we should admire them for the efforts made, gold or no gold, as I would hope the Olympics is about participation - but it is also about victory on the podium - that is why countries participate.

I think the 'everyone's a winner' mentality is responsible for lower standards in schools generally - you can no longer reward students for excellent work - results are simply 'satisfactory' or 'not satisfactory'- so students are not being encouraged towards personal excellence. Then of course when they go out into the real world,(work or university), they discover that there are indeed winners and losers - and they are not prepared.

Bullsh*t

If there not competitive don't send them.
We shouldn't send anyone who didn't get a A qualifier. If that means no track & field team for example so be it. It's a competition not a f*cking holiday.

Agree but the public will want elite athletes. Sally Pearson looks like money well spent.

$600m on what about 1000 athletes
at that price
maybe we need to attract better illegal asylum seekers - entry only if you swim 100mt in less than 55sec
or
genetically breed better athletes

Australia always hits well above it's weight in sports - especially considering that we have a much smaller population than most countries.
Blessed by sunshine and an outdoors lifestyle - we usually get by on the sheer number of individuals who like sports enough to really good at it.
Maybe then we are sliding, despite continued generous government funding for sports, because we have diminishing outdoor time due to financial pressures as the cost of living keeps growing and we must work ever longer hours.

Another big difference is that in Australia sport clubs, institutions and academies are designed and carefully operate to be exclusively selective of anglo/celtic stock; therefore they are not using the full potential of prospective athletes, look at the current athletes, they look more like spoiled brats than professional sportsmen, they lose and start crying and throwing tantrums. Embarrassing performance really.
Only When Aussie anglo's get off their supremacist wagon and start to give equal opportunities to all Australians (not only in sport), rather than select only pale anglo individuals, there will be great progress, unity and patriotism in this country.
A good example of the way they are running the sports ( and many other institutions) can be seen in the recent controversy involving John Steffenson, good that he had the courage to speak up; I just hope they wont run a campaign to destroy him; or accuse him of a crime or something else. He should stand up to these vultures and expose all their little tricks.
YES YES! This is SO true, see I lived in Australia for 3 years, Im a US citizen though, and I have to say I really find racism a bit problem in Australia, and I am a white female. I think the fact that Australians are not doing good this years has a lot to do with that. They have to leave arrogance racism aside to prosper and succeed.
I'm not saying this to offend anyone but I really found racism in Australia so extreme that I can completely see why it will catch up to them. Something like that has to catch up. I even saw on the news when I was there that Tomic, a 19 yr old tennis player playing in the Australian open was stopped a couple of times by police on Australia day because he himself said "he is not Australian enough,"
and he is an Aussie athete playing in the Australian open.
I have also heard Aussie put Americans down, I think they have a lot to learn from the US actually. Treat all races and people equally, then it will get better.

your f*cked in the head. What can we learn from you azzholes? how to go to war & drag the rest of the world in ... f*ck it up & pull out leaving the country worse. What about how to be big fat obese loud-mouth know-nothings. How about being so obese that upsizing isn't enough we need to supersize. What about how to run your country to the f*cking ground & blame the world for not buying your sh*t. Shut your f*cking mouth. What the world has learnt is you guys are a waste of F*cking space. Hurry up & colonise Uranus so you can F*cking leave this planet.

Don't believe everything you see today and your memory could be playing tricks on you, too. You might remember things in a distorted or false way, through no fault of your own. You may also be reading too much into the situations that are going on around you, making it hard for you to know what's really happening. Try not to make any big decisions today because you simply aren't thinking straight.
