And, he being a non-American, Oliver's often disparaging comments are about as relevant as a pygmy giving advice on slam dunks.
BTW, the superpower ensures our bordering Canadians can also live without a care in the world too. This, regardless of whether the worthy Canadians give military or surveillance support or not. We thank the Canadians that they do. If they didn't, USA would. in truth, US might has ensured North American - Canadian - security for a century. Thus, Japan, the Soviets, now the Russians and the rising north east Asian powers would have been/would now be stupid to dare harm relatively weak Canada. USA has got their back (for our own sake, despite being kin).
So, having said this, can't see why one of non-American Yank Oliver's LONG TERM running themes is:
"The Yanks saved you Aussies in WW2!" Well, that's true. An 8-year-old could know that.
However, we Americans saved the entire West for a century (including Canada).
Meanwhile, regarding middle powers Australia and Canada, plus the stronger mother-country, UK - USA has no greater friends. Shared culture, shared language, shared values, shared trials and tribulatons for a century.
